green tomatoes

We have got a bunch of green tomatoes, we had a light frost and the plants were going bad so I am going to do salsa tommorow I hope.  I have the day off and then work the weekend.  I also have a friends of Meg's I need to get her senior pictures done. Her family is having a finicial hardship right now so I am going to take and send off for prints as her graduation gift.

I am working extra hours as the part time cap has been lifted and trying to stockpile for winter, however it sometimes feels like three forward and two back.  However slow and steady wins the race.  This morning we (meg and I) were working on chemistry equations.... oh the fun!  She is working alot of hours now just at McDonalds.  She quit the drive in movie place as they kept delaying her paycheck, no pay means no workie for her.  She takes her crew chief test this next week, the last step up before a shift manager which she cant do until she is 18. Missy is really doing a lot better with her classes and the writing class is really challanging her which is good.  The thing she says she hates about college is trying to fiqure out each proffesor likes and dislikes and how they do test and such, I remember that when I was in college.

Dave had the flu after I had it on Sunday or early Sat. morning did two machines and came home Monday morning and just died on the couch.  Still having nasuea and feeling wiped out, hope the girls dont get it too.

Next Monday Meg and I will be going to visit Midwestern College to check it out for her.  Well better get back to the grind.

rearranging the deck chairs

I have always loved the above quote, because on a sinking ship arranging the deck chairs does seem like futility.  Today I am trying to mark off the 100 little things marching around in my brain.  So I have managed to head into a job that got canceled but still get paid for due to late cancel.  Print off all my invoices since Feb for my records. I have gotten the dentist appts scheduled for everyone except Missy (she does all her own scheduling of all medical issues....yeah!)  Got college day set up for Meggan and I.  Got eye doctor appt for Meg.  Cleaned out three inboxes (sorenson, home, and MERIL).  Found my desk again, and now I have to go get a doctor's appt done (follow up on knee and meds), going to go get my quilt from the quilters (so excitied to see what it looks like).  Then come home mow the lawn, clean the house, and maybe maybe do something I want to do!  However it is an easier stage of life then it use to be as more and more the kids get to fiqure it out, however coordinating does become more difficult due to the fact that I am not master of their schedules.  Well better head out the door for now.

the start of a new week

Well getting ready to clock on soon and start another week.  I was able to get some sewing on Dave's quilt done this morning and picked up the house some too.  I have been sleeping like the dead lately which is a good thing after being sick last week.  So enjoying the better temps.  My tomatoes are still very lackluster so not impressed with them when the temps at night get down in the 30s I plan to pull and make green tomato salsa with the rest.  Then fertilize and get it ready for a better time next year!  This week will be busy for all of us and we are all into our school year pattern which has a nice fimiliar and calming effect for all.  Dave made this awesome homemade chicken noodle soup, wow it could have won a blue ribbon it was soooo good.  I even got in a Sun. afternoon nap.  That was nice!  Well better get ready to clock on.

back to work

Back to work after being sick always feels like getting back in the saddle.  I did enjoy having two days off in a row after I was done being sick, got alot done around the house and got started on Dave's quilt about ready to start sewing on it.  I am going to be doing a new pattern, got my other quilt dropped off should be done in a week or two.

My tomatoes are doing pathetic, I have twice as many plants and less than a third of the yield, it seems like no one around here is doing well with their garden.  However our burn ban has finally been lifted so if we want to have a campfire we can finally do that and I think the temp. is about right for us to do that.

Missy hasnt been putting in as many hours due to a lack of work on campus so she is trying to work on her long term projects and get a jumpstart on them.  Meg is working a whole lot of hours at both jobs and is looking at taking her test for crew chief next moth at Mc Donalds it should give her a ten cent raise.  I need to start thinking about Christmas soon as it will be around the corner soon.  I am seriously thinking about getting a Kindle to use at work.  I sometimes have long wait on hold times and we are allowed to read on a kindle or such I just need them to not be a huge price maybe they will have good sales right after thanksgiving.

Well better get back to work.

domestic godess

Well this morning I have gotten up to a completely clean house with only one load of laundry to do, and that load is now in the dryer.  It is a nice feeling to get two days off in a row without any distractions.  I am feeling so much better now that the earache is gone, it is quite distracting when you feel like there is a little man down inside of your ear with an ice pick.  I plan to cook and bake today hopefully and work of Dave's quilt.  I started cutting it out last night, it will be a throw for him to use this winter.  I am trying out a new pattern, wish me luck.  I am going to make some cookies and zucchini bread and if I am really ambitous today maybe some real homemade bread too.  It is nice to have a day all to myself, many years in the making.  With my kids all grown up they are becoming more common not all together common but on occasion.  MDK is housesitting for Denise as her family is doing a mini vacation getaway.  MLK is at class,  had car troubles this morning thinking it is a loose tie rod so she will need to get that fixed asap. She works tommorow and then is going to sell jewlery at country harvest all weekend in Maysville.  I work all weekend, so glad for the break before the start of work.  Well better get back to my cooking and baking.

and the beat goes on

Well I am getting into a routine with Megs senior year, she has so few classes that I am not as deeply involved as I am usually.  I am starting to transition to life after homeschooling children, not quite but soon,.  Mostly working more.  I am glad I made the scarfices over the year but it doesnt seem like it has been a decade of it.

Missy had a fun day at class, her writing teacher was as she said hateful,  I doubt it he just is making her work really hard and challenging her much.  She hates criticism, none of us like it but she really doesnt do well with it.  I hope she is able to rise to the challange.  She is enjoying being back in the routine of college and is so much more productive  when she has her routine.

Meg is back in the swing of things also.  Today was a day off from everywhere so that was good for her, she is doing a better job of balancing everything.  Dave has had a bad earache all week.  Hope he gets better, his Redbox team is  going to a Chiefs game this weekend and Steve is coming over to go with him, his Dad may also be coming for a visit.

Still need to iron my quilt and take it to the quilt did I every mention how much I hate ironing?

oh by the way this is my 1111 post!

everybody loves raymond and other musings

Everybody loves Raymond has just been added to Netflix and Dave and I watched this last night, we were both just dead dog tired last night, so we laid on the couch and just laughed and laughed.  This show really reminds me of his Gma and Gpa Kaster.  It is just too funny, and it is good for your body and soul to laugh hard enough you cry.

Yesterday I got up and went with Dave to his preaching at Whitesville Church and then we ate a quick lunch at Denises house and then we went back home and I laid down and took a much needed nap.  Kelly was over for the weekend so I took her and Nick's engagement pictures.

Today is clean up the house do the grocery shopping and get caught up on everything day.

This is a blog to share with family and friends.A recording of our everyday happening, a modern day diary.
