I know why mother bears eat their young

Wow what a day, and it isn't done yet!!! MDK wow MDK gonna kill her!!!!! She is hellion on wheels of late, a smart answer for everything, wailing sobs, short-tempered, roller coaster hormones. I am at a loss, just told Dave that maybe only one of us will survive, and it maybe me. I know that Dad will need to have the kabosh cermony, (I distinctly remember MLK at this age, got the kasbosh while in the van, we all about went through the windsheild as he slammed on the brakes, and got off to the side of the road). It seems to work, and MDK has a big one coming her way!!! The kabosh is when Dad takes the teenager in hand and takes a few notches out of her and puts her back in the right place. Something about Dads that wield this power, and it works. She still has schoolwork left and her room cleaning.

MLK got her b-day present from Denise, a beagle puppy named Louie, he is a real cutie and something Dad said she could have when she was better (back in March this promise was made). Very very cute and really smart, it howls when it needs to go out, it has had one partly piddly because MLK poked around too much before she got her shoes on and puppy bladders are only so big.

Well better get off here for now.

feeling better today

Well took MLK to the Children's Mercy Teen Clinic and she will need to get on the bc patch to try to shirnk this cyst, and follow up in six weeks. She cried in the office as I think she was just fed up with everything, also they weighed her and she had gained about 15 pounds since she was at the doctor's office. I think most of all she was just tired and tender and sore. She still feeling pretty lousy and tired alot.

Yesterday, everything just overwhelmed me, I just felt like a big wave of stuff had washed over me. I don't know why I quess let down from all of this chaos. Dave goes to the urologist for his check up and all. He has a funeral tommorow and then we will celbrate MLK birthday, Dave and Aunt Denise and myself are getting her a puppy for her birthday. SHHHH she gets it tonight.

We will soon be running a zoo as we have another way small kitty we are nursing due to mother abandoment, at least we dont have 10 little furry babies!

Well better go for now.

letting the doctor have it

MLK has a cyst the size of a walnut on her right ovary, and it was bad enough they kept her in the hospital overnight. She was hurting bad, the obgyn doctor that consulted was a big JERK, I wrote him up, he was such a JERK, so anyway she has strong pain meds, and then we do the ultrasound today and see if it will need to be surgically removed or not. She will have to have hormone treatments(b.c.) to make sure this doesnt happen again. If surgery is needed then we will go to Children's Mercy.

So my house is a mess and I am just tired. I slept some at the hospital but not alot. Well blog more later when I know more.

Adobe photoshop is blowing my mind

Well today, I am downstairs in the office with the girls and our furnace is working, yeah!!!! The laundry is going and we are toasty warm, MLK is almost finished with her school subjects, however true to form MDK (for the last two weeks) is dragging her butt behind, she is just not at all motaviated about anything at all!!!! I think hormones kick in and brain leaves the building. However she has finally settled down and is getting alot more stuff done. I will proably wake her up early and work her little butt off tommorow. The girls are currently debating, about war, MLK is saying war is horrible, and MDK is agreeing but she says the advances after war in medicine and other areas are great. Very interesting to hear them intelligently speak to the topic. MDK is starting the Civil War. Anyway, tommorow I am hoping to get apples and freeze them. Tonight, laundry and sewing. It is quiet down here in the office, very cozy and very productive. I suspect we will knock off for the night soon. Hope to make bread also tonight.

Adobe is kicking my butt, it has so much stuff, but this slow and steady pace of online tutoring is helping, I just want to conquer it now, but I think it will be alot like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.

I have only one interpreting assignment next week, so it will be a slim week of inflow from my job. Plan to test in March I have decided as I dont want the nasty weather. Maggie, the dog just looked at MLK till MLK moved over on the couch, the dog wanted MLK spot as it had already been warmed up. What a hoot! Such a small little thing that gives so much love and entertainment.

Anyone for a small hamster, I hear my sister has some for sell. Buy a hamster, get 10 free!!! I am thinking about getting her the Dr. Suess book, called If I ran the Zoo!

well more later

rainy night, movie night

Dave had a bunch of meetings at the church last night so the girls and I sat around cuddled under blankets (furnace man coming today). Releases this week were very kid friendly. Denise went with MLK driving yesterday and they about hit a telephone pole. Thinking she may need alot more practice yet. Today will be interpreting and then schoolwork, and possible getting apples done ( I hope) well better get started on the day.

what a wonderful trip!

Took off Monday afternoon, after much doing to just get out the door and we were on our way, arrived at Mom and Dad's around 5;45 , my sister got there shortly after, the kids all played with each other. MLK just adored the baby, and crawled and played with him. The other two stole off MDK to the basement. We had a great time just sitting around talking. Then we all went to bed around 10. I slept in till 8 the first time for this whole last week.

The girls made pies with Gma, we watched Anne of Green Gables, the girls loaded wood, we had a wiener roast, and it was so relaxing and nice. We got on the road about 3 dropped the girls off and went to my meeting to see about Lap band surgery. It was an introductory session with a doctor to explain what happens, cost, insurance coverage, etc. Then I picked the girls up and came home.

We are headed to the office to get school work done this morning. so I will write more later.

wow that was fast

I ordered my book on Thursday and got it on Saturday, and it looks way cool. I ordered a soft cover book with my photos as a portoflio for myself and it got here yesterday. It is so cool to see it in print. I always told myself, people are too hard, they get funny looking smiles, they don't hold still, they are blah blah. Well I have really enjoyed the challange. Now I will try families and smaller kids. I have the same thoughts such as too hard, blah blah, but I think I will go ahead and do it anyway. I have been trying to teach both girls to face the challanges of life with a attiude of what can I learn. For so many years the fear of failure parilyzed me from trying. Photography has once again has become a joy for me. For a few months (after MLK shock in March), I was on autopilot, my world had stopped spinning and I was getting through. I know feel like I am alive again, and doing my photos has helped me to rekindle the spark inside.

MLK is doing well now, the right meds, a wonderful counselor and a good physchtrist, have been a God send!! She has her days, like we all do, but she is able to handle them now. MDK is changing so much in the midst of her puberty, the attiude has gone way up, and bridling that passion and bringing it under control is her new goal (one that I and Dad have set). I like the way that Dave says, you control your behavior or I will and you wont like it.

The vball game, the won one, and lost one, then they went to a birthday party, and had a blast. I read about half the book called Spenser's Mountain, which the Waltons are based on. I would say that I actually think the TV drama was better, the characters in the book are a little flat. That is usually not the case.

Today MDK and I will be back to the books, she has sewing in the morning, so we will do our assignments for Monday this afternoon. Church will be odd this morning without Dave.

Had a great time at craft day on Friday, Tina has been such a blessing to me personally. Well better go!

just piddling around

ahh today is friday!!! Dave's vacation is slipping by quickly, I hope he sleeps alot today, as the meds were kicking his butt yesterday. I have been waking up early all week long. I am trying to keep it quiet in the house, so I have been piddling around this morning. I found a great place to get your photos printed. It is called mpix, I talked to alot of professional photographers, and this is the company they like. I have put together a portfolio book of seniors I have taken. I don't know yet what I will do with it. I know I dont have the equipment or gear yet to go into business and I am not sure if I would want to or not. However I am having a game plan for when or if I do. I always thought it smart that my Dad got his woodshop ready when he retired, he knew it would be a big life change and he needed to have a focus. I think I will be doing the same when it comes to the girls leaving home. I will not leave my day job (interpreting), but think I will make goals to do this as a side business when the girls leave home. Right now I am trying (key word - trying) to learn the basics of Adobe. I also am working on a portfolio, I am saving for a new camera (that will be awhile). I think it will help me transition when the time comes, I see so many of my friends having a extremly hard time, mostly because they have no idea what to do next.

Today MDK and I go to a craft day with other homeschoolers, a lady in our church has alot of friends over one Friday a month, she has an art major so she is always a treat to learn from.

So what have we done this week for school, since it was project week? Well we have cut out all three quilts, we have started sewing up one. We have done alot of cleaning around the house. MLK has caught up on all her cooking projects. (home ec) We have had library visit, we have had vball practice, MLK took her pre SAT test (it can qualify her for National Merit Scholar). We have done alot of reading for fun. Dave has conquered the Egyptians, and Libyans (computer game) and the basement. I am much looking forward to getting back to routine, but understand why Dave wanted everything low key.

Dave and I are going out on a Safari shot, later today. . . it will be our date for the week. A good time to meander and talk, and just have fun together. Well better get off her and get around for the craft day.

Dave's vacation

Dave is officially on vacation, he has been doing some odd jobs around the house and he has been playing computer games, he is having a blast doing the game. He hasn't slept as much as he has wanted, trying to conquer the game, but it is relaxing and distracting.

The meds seem to start helping. That is good news. The meds also keep his digestive track a little off, a lot of running back and forth to the toliet.

I finished my CEU training in KC, it was good and I was really nervous however drivng back and forth, that was alot worse than the actual stuff I did.

Well I had better go, going to try to sew.

working on Christmas

Howdy! Yesterday was good news, no cyst, no mass, no surgery for Dave. It is a blood clot that is inside a blood vessel and it is greatly irriated the vein. Two very strong meds for a week and we are on our way. So Dave decided to take the week off from both places, as he will proably going to need to be close to the toliet. The one medicine is a high dose of cypro, which always makes Dave have a bad case of the runs.

Have bought all but MJo gift and K. for Christmas, everyone is getting quilts, actually not suppose to buy for the big ones so consider it something else, it is a great home ec/ art hours for all and I am enjoying it also. The pattern is turning twenty. I may get addicted to this!

Dave declared it a school holiday also, so that he and the girls could have some time together, I said no way, so we compromised and made it a project week, MLK has to do alot of cooking projects, MDK and I will work on soap and quilting projects, MLK will also start crocheting some scarfs for friends for Christmas, so that is a decent compromise, and we will pick up some video's on the Civil War also.

Dave got a bonus and with part we bought a program that will help make movies and slide shows and burn them to a regular DVD, MLK is very very skilled in that area, so once she gets it learned and you want a video of pictures or different things put them in digital form and we will see what she can do. She can work her way around most computer graphics, now we are going to teach her some more on publisher, word and excel, she is compotent but need to have her learn the extras in these programs.

I have had a slow learning curve with Adobe, found an online free course on how to do it, so hope that helps, even the books are hard to understand, but if I can conquer it I think it will be cool. Found a place online to do my pictures into a soft bound book. So need to download that software. Well better get off her and get around for terping and enrichment.

apples, doctors, clean the house, get the schoolwork done

Woke up at 5:15 today, just drenched, I would say that it is my early morning sweats, wow, got to love this life change NOT!

Today we go to the doctor, and get a diagnosis for Dave, so hopefully it will not be bad news. Then clean the house, get the schoolwork done, and try to do apples.

Did more senior pics yesterday morning, they werent as good, the light was not great yesterday so had a hard time with it. Will reschedule them both.

Will blog more later after we get back from Daves apt.

early morning and quilts

Well we didnt go to the vball game, MLK was still a little weak and tired and MDK had a b-day party. I personally enjoyed having a Saturday off. That was nice, Dave had gotten all his Redbox and church stuff done, we did visit a sick person in the hospital and then we went to some craft stores. MLK was to have someone over but that fell through. She has done some hard things, she has been standing up for herself with her best friend, and changing the dynamics of that friendship and it has been tough.

I have gotten all the fabric bought for the quilts and when I get the instructions on Monday I will get started at home sewing. Denise quilt should be done soon and sent to the quilters. I have been enjoying this and may take this up as a hobby to share with the girls. Still trying to get MLK set up with Nellie to learn to do granny squares.

MDK had a lackluster week of work, she dragged her heels all the way through the week and it about cost her the party, she was very anxious Sat. morning when she was getting it all done. Hopefully she wont do that again. MLK has just came out of that and now MDK is starting, maybe it is hormonal, who knows?

I have some apples I am going to freeze and we are making soaps at my house. How much fun, well better go will be taking pics of a senior today.

cysts, counselors, and 435

Ugh, I hate driving in big city, I conquered it however had to get clear to South KC. All that big town driving about took me to the edge. I did it however and worked through it, did 3 hours of CEU training and then I will do it again next week. Then I will be all done with my CEUS .

We were in the ER last night with MLK a really bad cyst that was on the right side, when they are really bad you just never know if it could be her appendix and it is not worth the risk to assume it is only a cyst. She is pretty worn out physically from it.

We also had a counseling session with her counselor, really really like her. She is really calm and very clear. MLK really really likes her.

Anyway MDK made the cutest soaps yesterday they look like lolipops and she said they were really really easy to do. So we may have a craft for Thanksgiving! :) (that is officially a warning!)

Well better get off for now.

a trip to the ER

MLK had another huge cyst that burst and had alot of pain that started Monday night, whenever she gets a large one, it is always on the right side and acts alot like appendix problems. So after waiting almost 24 hours and then the pain getting worse we took her to the ER.

Today I go to KC for training, not looking forward to the driving, the other stuff I will be okay with, but not at all the driving. I hope I get it right.

Today was a planned day off for the girls which is good due to MLK needing rest (loss of blood from cyst has wiped her out). Will write more later.

another senior

well a full day

Why did kids stall, I always wonder that, it will happen, they will have to finish it, so why not get it over it? They were not bad kids today but talk about stalling and plopping through the day.

Got school done, the girls have Wed. off (due to me needing to do CEUs in KC (not looking forward to that drive. Got the second season of X Files, we are such sci fi nuts at this house, give us Star Trek and X Files and we are happy campers. A murder mystery though is a close second. Then musicals, after that.

Yesterday was a good day at church, good service in the morning, and then we had an awesome Southern gospel group and a pretty decent crowd.

Well I better go and get ready for tommorow.

bible quiz and a hayride

Bible quiz and a hayride was what we did yesterday. Bible quiz, my team did great, they held their own and they enjoyed themselves. Todd team didn't do so good, but MLK did well.
Then we took off without MLK on the bus (I thought she was in the back of the bus asleep, when she was talking to her friend L. boy did I get razed for that one).

We then went to the hayride at Wolf's house, we had a great time and there was a rather large crowd, it was alot of fun!!!! It was a beautiful evening for it. It is neat to see in those settings how much the church has grown.

Tonight we have a singing group in so that should be fun. This afternoon, Dave and I will make two soups for that and we will all try to clean the house.

Well better go for now.

two jobs one day

Well I interpreted two times yesterday, one at a funeral visitation and a college class. I really enjoy the college class, the visitation was very different. I was sorta needed there were proably around 25-30 deaf people there. The hearing family must not have known how to sign at all, and their daughter was 44 years old. Wow it just slays me when I see such a sad situation. I quess my wish for all deaf kids is that their parents sign some, it was such a wierd disconnect there. The deaf people didn't really need me as they talked amongst themselves and the hearing people didnt really talk to the deaf people. It was an odd thing.

I am loving the college class, good teacher, excellent student so that was a great thing. Do like the feel of freelancing I enjoy the ability to control my schedule (somewhat).

Today we have a vocal workshop, it will give us some hours for music and it looks to be really good, esp. for MLK. MDK informs me this morning MOM I just want to let you know that this wkshp is not my idea! (well no duh, but it will do you good anyway!) Tommorow is Bible quizzing which is much look forward to. MLK has memorized 81 verses and MDK has memorized 54. Luke 1 and Luke 3. Hopefully our shirts will be done in time.

Almost got Denise's quilt done. Exicited about that going to get the material for Bren's next then proably will make one for both moms. It is an easy quilt to do. So mom's think of what colors you want okay? Bren wants the blues and browns to go in Jobie and Luka room.

Well need to get some schoolwork done and get things picked up , so bye for now.

the cutest one of all

seniors again

was that me coming or going?

Hello, yes I just saw myself coming and look there I go. Feeling a little rushed of late. MLK dr. appt got postponed due to the doc. So we just have vball tommorow and then I have interpreting jobs.

MLK and I had a little headbutting this morning at Ruth's. She needs to learn to say, Mom I would perfer not sewing anymore, rather than have a pouty fit, that makes Mom take you home. Anyway we talked it out and she had a good rest of the day.

MDK and I worked on Denise's quilt one more time and we will be able to take it to the quilter's. The next one we will do at home. I really think we can do it on our own. I am excitied about it.

Friday is the girls vocal workshop, something new and I am looking forward to what they will be doing, I will taking another senior pictures again. I have done alot of kids, but enjoying it and hoping to be a blessing. Well now I need to fold a literal mountain of laundry.

Will post pics

This is a blog to share with family and friends.A recording of our everyday happening, a modern day diary.
