be afraid be very afraid

Well MLK got her permit, so be afraid. She and Dad should be going out and starting to practice. When she did her vision, she got restricted to her glasses and she also has a restriction of a right mirror, she couldnt read a whole column on the far right side. Told her there was a reason she has glasses.

I have hit a slump with this weather, I usually have a rough time somtime between Jan and March. I had done well untill this week. Some of the signs are there (they always show up in my sleeping paterns). I went to bed at 9 pm last night. I am not doing too bad but I really need this winter to finish.

Dave will be doing two huge days today and tommorow, he is still kinda grumpy today, when his schedule gets messed with he can get that way.

Well better get around have an interpreting job today.

taking the cat to the vet and other errands

Well we take MLK again to take her permit test, and then we will go drop off the cat at the vet. He is being nuetured today. Plan to make bread and cinnamon rolls today and finish up school work for the week. Tommorow I will be interpreting at a school so the girls will have a movie day. That always helps to break up the routine. They have some documentaries to watch about Science and one about the Dec. of Independence.

Dave got in late last night from his route. He has been a little ouchy feels unbalanced this last few weeks with church vs redbox. Redbox movies have been coming in late and the weather has been so rough that it throws his schedule off and his calender gets thrown off and that makes for a grumpy guy.

Well he is up and at them so I will talk to him before he leaves.

my cleaning buddy

MDK is my cleaning buddy, she loves to clean and organize, she cleaned the kitchen carpets, shampooing them and then showing us the dirt she got out if it. Then she cleaned the tub and then she plans to clean the living room carpet next. She just is able to get it and the details unlike some other girl I know. She just has the knack.

MLK and I are working on Math right now, she has come a long way on her understanding. She just has to get over her hatered of it.

Maggie May got her hair cut today, where I interpreted she looks so much better now. I have put taco soup in the crock pot for tonight and then taking a short half hour nap.

Well better go!

math and writing

School has gone well today, except each girl has her trouble area. MDK trouble area is writing, her reading really doesnt trip her up much anymore, and spelling is vastly improved this year. Writing is difficult, the mechanics of it getting it on paper. Her vocab selection is better, but her sentence structure is so so. She has alot of issues with it so we are starting out simple and just write and then we will edit and polish.

MLK has issues with math, not that she isnt capable but just that she has hang ups with it. She has to work at it and she doesnt like that aspect of it.

I interpret early early this morning and was home by 11 am. Dave is off to get his movies get a few kiosks done and back to have deacons meeting. I have two more interpreting assignments this week.

Well better go for now.

oatmeal scotchies

MLK made cookies again tonight, and I made roast that just wouldnt get done. We got alot of stuff finished around the house, and most all the school work done for today. We went into the library and went grocery shopping in St. Joe. Got alot of stuff done today, mostly piddly stuff.

We have been doing Fin. Peace University (Dave Ramsey), it has been really good. We did our detailed budget today and envelope system, I think it will help save even more.

I have three different interpreting jobs this week, should keep me in practice.

Well all for now.

wow what a week

Well I did alot of interpreting jobs this week, which seemed to work out. Had a good but small attended youth rally. Went home (which was so nice to see the family). I interpreted a funeral hope I did right by the family. Now I have girls over spending the night with my girls. It has been a busy week, MLK got herself grounded from the internet for two weeks. She made up her own punishment and didnt get her Math finished so that is what will happen, she doesnt seem phased yet. She doesnt realize that she will not have the computer at all. That will proably sink in soon.

MDK has been growing like a week, trying to keep that girl in clothes is becoming a challenge. It was fun to get to hang with my family this weekend, even though it was short. I have to reschedule our trip to Truman Library. I hope to do that sometime in March. Well I had better get everyone around for Sunday.

cooking and such

ahh it is finally the finish of school work for today, talk about a long and plodding day, wow! We are going to cook now, we have cleaned some and taken care of this and that. Now bread and cookies and maybe meatballs. Anywho we are on track to where we need to be, they are in better shape to be able to finish most subjects by the end of April and the beggining of May, Math will proably go longer but that is okay.

MLK had a Science Fair last night and it went okay she was disappointed, I thought she did well but she placed fourth with an overall score of 85 out of 1oo. She did well, she interviewed well, and she was only beat out by a few points, her low score was in the scientific method, weak on the hypothesis and conclusion, her presentation of her ideas was her high score. It was a education as she usually aces everything and it is good for her to be challanged. Both girls want to the do the Science Fair next year.

I took pics of a senior yesterday and they are looking so good. I hope the parents are pleased.

WEll off to cook.

Science fair

Had an absolutely crazy morning, Dave took off to fix the tire and MDK started with sewing, then her machine broke down, with her following, (oh may she start soon). She is one big emotional mess right now. Got her retooled and started on Spelling and then that wasn't good, she couldn't remember if it was one l or two ll on her words missed half.

MLK spent all morning putting on the finishing touches for her science fair project (last minute of course) she then planned out her week and I signed off on it and she started her other subjects right before lunch.

I then took pictures of a homeschool senior, they turned out excellent. We then got ready and headed off to the Science fair, MLK placed fourth out of four, but her overall score was a 85 out of 100, she had high marks on her research, difficulty, presentation, but lower mark on following the scientific method. She says that it cuts into her creativity. Overall a great learning experience for her.

WEll off to bed with me

tired of winter

Usually I am not a wimp when it comes to winter, but today I have decided we have had enough winter.

We called off church this morning, and it was a good thing as it was a mess at the time church would have not been safe to have. Dave is out with a family their son committed sucide. He is taking the Dad down to St. Joseph to identify the body. It is a sad sad day for the family. The kid was in his twenties.

Dave and I had a nice time yesterday, the girls spent the night with friends and then got stuck there this morning. They are finally digging out and then will get here soon.

Went downstairs to the laundry room and about passed out what a mess, quess what the girls get to do when they get home, yes you quessed it the laundry room.

The tire on the truck hit a pot hole and blew out the tire not sure if we will need to replace the rim too or not, it is parked in a farmer's field right now off of E. We have had a slew of little things go wrong with vehicles lately. But that is okay as we will be okay, we have some set aside for that stuff, I just want the trend to quit for awhile. Well better get off here.

well what has been going on

Yesterday helped Dave finished up his route, he was really dragging by the end of the week, he seems to have had a little bit of a health slump with his mystery whatever it is, so I have been helping out here and there (about once a week). School went pretty well this week, have a few odds and ends to finish out today (mostly math) and then put in grades and make lesson plans for next week.

Today we are going to see the baby after we help with angel food network at the church. It distrubutes food boxes for a reasonable price. Anyway going to help with that and then we will be on our way. The house looks good, the laundry is so so. I have had some swelling in my ankle due to a twist on the ice, luckily nothing big or hairy but am trying to avoid stairs for a week, so the laundry is not as attended to when I dont stand over it and have the girls do it.

Dave and MLK had some words this week, mostly due to her stinky I know better than my parents attiude, he readjusted that for her.

Today I hope is a good and calm day

baby

Bob and Mary had their baby, Mary had a c-section and this morning. The baby name is Rebekah. It will be a few days before they all come home.

Well I had better get busy on my days work.

frustrating

Had a very productive Monday, followed by a lackluster Tuesday, got all our school work done (double batch again) and then I just was done for the day. We picked up some but no big projects at all done.

Talked to my friend from college, we decided that she and MLK are alot alike so it helped to get some insight on what makes the oldest one tick. I just get tired from butting heads with her so much. She gets her back up and man does it take alot to get her back in a mood to be productive.

MDK friends down the street moved and MDK has been pretty upset about that. She and I played chess last night she can now pretty constantly beat me.Next year I want her to take the chess class.

I was in a funk yesterday with a bad attiude, I dont know where that came from, I think it has been an extremely hard winter and that can affect my mood. I am in hopes that the weather will start turning nice again and I can get out in it more, maybe it is cabin fever, there have been very few mild winter days this year.

Watched a movie called Word Wars it was all about Scrabble player it was interesting, we have all been on a Scrabble kick around here. Well better get off.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

i actually made them

cinnamon rolls, i made them all by myself and they were delicious. We all ate them as we played a long and crazy game of Scrabble, it was alot of fun! Steve was over and had never played Scrabble. The girls were getting tired around 10 so we put them to bed and then we watched a short movie. It was a blast last night. We had such fun! Made bread with the other half of the batch, but I can now make an awesome cinnamon roll.

I am hoping for today as fruitful a day as we had yesterday. We got so much stuff done, but I must be careful, I am learning to just kinda take what comes my way since I got home, if I get too hyped up about accomplishing things it seems to not happen, if I let that expectation go then I get more done than I expected to. I suppose Murphy law is coming in there.

I will try to take a picture of the pillow MDK made and post that. Hope to make it home soon. Maybe towards the end of Feb. Well best go!

much more productive

Wow we had a very productive day, MDK went and sewed and made this cute pillow, and then got assignments for her sewing, Ruth will be gone for two weeks. She is really getting into the sewing thing, she is truely the domestic queen. We just finished making bread and she had to do it since I dont do it right. Now we are making frosting to make roses for a big cake she will make for Thursday. We will freeze the rosese, we will make cinnomon rolls with half the bread recipie. Dave made a huge batch of lasagna for the banquet and is freezing it. We got a double batch of school work done today and some cleaning! It has been a rather peaceful day after Dad took a few notches of attiude out of the oldest. Steve just came in, and then the two of them went on a Redbox service call, it has been a good day, I also helped Dave with bulteen covers for the next two months. It was nice to have him around the house for three days straight.

We plan to do another double batch of school tommorow, as we plan to do some special stuff on Thursday if the weather holds, we plan to go ice skating/valentine party and also go to library, I am to take pictures of a homeschooled senior and then also we will do some shopping at Goodwill and MLK plans to go spend her last Christmas gift certificate at Hastings.

Steve may get hired on at Redbox, if he does and stays for 90 days Dave will get a 1000 dollar bonus. That would be cool, Redbox could use someone like Steve that has alot of techinical computer skills.

God has really been blessing the move for me to come home, things are running smoother and I am getting a job about once a week. I will interpret some job training this week on Wednesday. I am enjoying the occasional work, it has been good, get paid about 100 a pop (mileage and fee) so good money and keeps my skills up.

Well I better go!

Sunday, February 10, 2008

and a little slower yet

aHH today has been a much nicer pace, had a nice Sunday morning service, came home ate veggie soup, watched the end of what the girls had in, went and took and straightened in my room some more and then took a nap and now I am up on the computer.

I am hoping to make cookies and go to AWANA and come home and do odds and end stuff.

Church has been going very well of late, things have been going well, good spirit and lots of new people visiting, stronger bonds forming between people. I have been enjoying it alot.

Well off to make cookies!

calming down a bit

Today was not as harried as this last week was, Dave had a funeral today, but I stayed in my grubby clothes till 11:45 it was gooood. Albany Baptist came by and looked at the church they said they contacted us but we didnt know. So I did a tour and then came home and took a shower, crawled into bed and slept for an hour got up and went to the funeral, now I am home and finishing getting school stuff ready for next week and finishing up some Math lessons with Missy. Got an email from Sagers, nice to hear from them. Hoping tonight finds us being quiet and low key.

I am averaging one interpreting job a week, which usually lasts a half day and between mileage and hourly rate it is about 1oo dollars, so I sock that into savings. I am thinking we will go to the ice skating/valentine thing for homeschoolers on Thursday. It will be nice to go do something after all this icky weather! We are suppose to have ice again this week, ohh yuck. I hope it doesnt amount to much.

Planning on making cinnomon rolls soon, just need to have the time, maybe tommorow night or Monday. We will wait and see.

Thats all for now

snow and lots of it

They say we have about a foot of snow on the ground and about 3 more inches to go. Dave came home early on his route last night, so that he could actually get home. The route this week could be alot of fun trying to get done. The girls and I made bread again last night. We just love that recipie that Mom gave us. We now have cookies and bread on hand and I am thinking I might bake some cinn. rolls before it is all said and done. I have been in a baking mood. Today we will buckle down and get alot of school work done. Tommorow if I can get out I will be taking MLK to take her permit test. Then I will go and interpret in the early afternoon in Savvanah. The girls put in some time yesterday, and we got caught up on all our school videos also. So today is finishing up alot of odds and ends. We have been reading a book called Beyond Beautiful Girlhood it is very well written. It talks about character issues for girls, esp. teen girls. I really like it alot and the girls seem to enjoy it also. As a family last night we watched a movie called Becoming Jane (new release) that was really good, alot like MLK. it was a movie about Jane Austen life.

Yesterday I went for Red Cross shelter training, it was good and I learned some. We had about 18 people there, we will also have a training at our church later this month. I am very exicited about where our church is headed, our younger Christians are now getting enough maturity on them that they want a place to serve. That is good stuff.

MDK has been in a funk lately, I think she is growing tons, she only has a half inch and she will be taller than MLK. She just keeps stretching and the hormones they are a raging. She will be thirteen before I know it and that means one thing, I am OLD! Wow how did that happen. Well better get the girls up and around and ready for the day.

More later.

dominoes

We bought and played dominoes last night, it was fun had not really ever played a real game, we played a variation called Muggins, there are about 20 different games you can play with dominoes, so they should last us awhile. We are trying to make Monday night our family game night. MLK made a big batch of snickerdoodles last night. They were good, the first batch she misread and put alot of cream of tarter in but the 2nd batch was perfect. MDK made goloush, it was great. I am trying to make MLK our cookie "master" so she can get some experience in the kitchen, once a week I am having here make a big batch of cookies. Tommorow I hope to make bread again. MDK went to Ruth and they sewed again, they seem to enjoy each other's company. She is learning alot also. She goes and stays for two hours, and then they eat cookies and brownines and such. Dave had a full day in the office, and was feeling worn slick last night. His blood sugar seems to be off since he had the flu, he gets really rough and grumpy and then he eats and he is much better. May need to take him in but I suscept that he will be told he is hyper glymic and to eat a bunch of small meals. I may change him to lower carbs and see if that helps also. He will be taking the truck today as they are to have alot of snow today. I am going to a Red Cross training this morning and then back around 12. The girls are going to get caught up on their sleep and then they have three movies to watch, one on MLK drivers permit test, one on Rivers, and one on Rev. War. Then I should be home and we will get started. The Dive Cd has been such a life send for MLK with her Algebra. WE both are finally getting the tricothomy axioms and such. You can understand 85 percent but it is the last 15 percent that kills you off. Well must get off her get around and pack Daves lunch shower and meet my ride.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

off and bumming tonight

We didnt have AWANA tonight due to the nasty stuff falling from the sky yet once again. Dave and I laid down and took a three hour nap, wow, I was suprised by that one. We just watch some of Dave's movies that he pulled out of the machine as damaged. It has been nice not to have to run and do tonight. Hope to make bread tommorow. Meg will go and sew tommorow and we will go and try to get the blue car back home.

The kids are off to bed after a long weekend with friends to their house and then staying over at our house. I am hoping to get some stuff done tommorow. Well better go and watch the next movie.

by myself

Good morning, I am downstairs working on laundry yet again. I am finding the bottom of it I think. Today is Bible quizzing, the girls went to a birthday party last night, hope they slept so they can do decent today. I stayed home by myself, Dave was finishing his route last night. He was so tired when he got home. I folded laundry, played on the internet and then read a book I had started almost a year ago. It is called Eldest, second in a three part series. It is really pretty good. MDK has started reading alot on her own, yeah!!

Dave plans to sleep as much as possible and then get up and finish stuff for Sunday. He needs to get some extra sleep, he has been extra tired. Watched the madness of King George, skip that movie it was stupid! Also watched Elizabeth the Golden Age ( new release) pretty good! Those are the movies I have seen this week. Besides a Standard Deviant for school, it had to do about fantasty literature. They are educational videos that are somewhat kooky but full of good information.

Will have another interpreting job possible next week, so the ocassional jobs are good for me, keep my skills sharp, dont know when I will go back and test again, my heart is just not in it right now. Well better go.

cleaning fool

I am a cleaning fool, yesterday I got half the basement clean, yahoo!!. It was the laundry room section of the basement. I have plotted three projects every week. This week was clean laundry room, clean garage and clean the doors and stairs. I have finished everything except the doors. My house is starting to take shape. I have created alot of garbage however! One closet I cleaned out I threw away about 2 bags of garbage. It feels good when you get rid of uneccessary clutter. You can kinda tell a difference without having to look to deep. I am also working on the laundry to get it all caught up today. The girls will be going to a friend's house tonight for a birthday party and then we have Bible quizing tommorow. I enjoy Bible quizzing. We have this month and next month, both girls may qualify for regionals and MLK may qualify for nationals. We will wait and see. We have about 2-3 more kids that could qualify for regionals this year from our church.

Fincinal Peace University has been a God-send for us. We are in such a better place than we were last year!!!! I want to say thank you for all those that made it possible, if family had not come and helped us with chores around the house and gifts we would have surely sunk. We should be out of most of our debt by mid summer, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train. We also have a emergency fund in the bank. It has been amazing what has happened since I quit work. God has opened up personal and finincial blessing. I knew it was the right move but didnt expect everything that has happened since then.

Pray for Dave as he has had some tingling back in his legs, and trouble sallowing again, his MS like sympthoms have been bothering him this week. The medicine makes a huge difference but he still has his bad days.

The girls and I have hit some sort of stride, they actually worked ahead yesterday, and I put in alot of grades yesterday, got caught up on logging stuff in and readjusting things. I try very hard to keep things legit. I know alot of homeschoolers that do a great job and their kids are smart but they dont keep any records. I think it says be ready to give an answer in the Bible it is taking about everything. Our state requires lessons plans, hours on subject, and assement(testing and or portofolio). I do all three. I just feel like if anyone wanted to drag me in for "educational neglect" (what Maysville R1 should be charged with), I would be prepared. I dont want to hodge podge their education. I want it tailor made, so it would fit them like a glove. MDK has really been going to town on her Math. I am thinking she and MLK will be doing the same math soon, she just gets it. I personally dont understand that! :)

Well onto to other things!

This is a blog to share with family and friends.A recording of our everyday happening, a modern day diary.
