hunkering down

Well we are ready for the big storm, I feel like the Ingalls in the Long Winter.  We have count them 3 1/2 kersone 5 gallon jugs full and ready.  The ice with the wind tommorow is a concern and local channels are saying to have an alternative heat source.  We have candles, flashlights, good books and photo albums ready to go.  We could up to 14 inches of snow here.  Missouri Western has canceled today, and I had to cancel my prison job, due to the ice.  We will see if we can get out on Wednesday or not.  Dave went down yesterday and got his movies but plans to wait till Wednesday to start his route.

I am reading a excellent books called the Hunger game triology.  Really a good read, I usually dont buy books anymore but bought these as the first one was so good, and it is a long hold on the library.  There will be no enrichment classes tommorow and I wont be taking Missy to college even if there is a possiblity they do have classes.

So bring it on. . .   ready for the storm.

learning wisdom

It was funny last night, I think MLK is finally growing up some.  Last night Dad, me and MDK were arguing the finer points of when schoolwork is done and when you can watch TV, MDK was throwing out every excuse known to man, MLK perks up and begans to say something and then decides not to. I laughed and said Now you are getting it true wisdom is knowing when not to speak sometimes.   Really she is showing alot of maturity of late.  She is unlearning procastination and is really starting to get it together.

I have been terping alot which is good to pay off taxes.  This morning I have off.  Finally going to get the roofer out of our hair as the check arrived.  That will be Sooooo good.  Well I better shower and get around.

a busy day

Today is a busy day, a workshop this morning, a terp job this afternoon.  Then come home and school the girls.  MLK has gotten an awesome rhythm lately and is soaring through her school work and actually doing extra art on the side.  MDK has become MLK of a few years ago, misplacing everything, slobby room, half hearted work, I think it must be a phase.  That phase makes me crazy, it also include the whine and you dont understand me mom thing with it.

We cleaned a deep clean yesterday it was awesome to sit down and know the house was spic and span!!!!  We watched some tv and I crocheted, it is a green and white slanted shell afghan for Steve, Daves friend for his birthday.  Next project will be a baby quilt for Denise's bun in the oven.  Well better go and get around.

wow the snow

Well I am glad we postponed the trip, it looks like we have six new inches out there already with a possiblity of two more inches before noon.  Needless to say, church isnt going to be possible this morning.  Dave thought as much, hopefully I can get out tommorow.

I got a whole lot of jobs this week, long term jobs, which was an answer to prayer, Dave will be taking on a heavier load with the homeschooling to help out.  This will enable us to pay taxes.

I had a workshop this Saturday and another one again this Monday, I will have half of my ceus done for the year and it is only Jan. Hoping to take today easy. More later.

mentoring

Todaay I start my mentoring working towards my level 4 taking my test this summer.  I also got a MWF gig in St. Joe so that is nice to have a steady flow of income for a while.  It is a 2 hour assignment.  Anyway mentoring is always a fun time, no one likes to know where they dont do as well, but it is a necessary evil and I am glad of it.  So anyway today we are to get nailed by a winter storm so not ready for that.  I enjoyed the last one because I didnt have to get out much but this one I do.

MLK likes her new english professor which is a good thing.  She is really exicitied about this class.  I have to get going on tax crap stuff plus I also have to do the FASFA.  Did a photo shoot on Friday so got that done.  Well better go for now. More later

random thoughts in the morning

I have sucessfully gotten back in the habit of blogging.  It is a good thing for me to put down all those things that rattle around in my head.  This week is going to be busy got alot of interpreting jobs which is good for the pocketbook.  MLK starts english 108 this morning, got to get our haircut this morning.  Working on school subjects with the kiddos.  Yesterday was a productive day with the girls got alot of schoolwork done.  We watched an interesting video on Darwin it was done by Creation Ministries inc.  Rented it through Netflix.  MDK is right now studying the difference between macro and micro evoulution so I always try to supplement with videos where I can espically with her, it helps her retain so much more.  She has really improved in her spelling but the last great mountain is writing, she is fair but needs to improve in this area.  She dislikes it so that doesnt help at all.  Dave had a funeral yesterday and was pretty worn out from all the tremors he had on Sunday.  We made tomato soup last night, yum one of my favorites.  Well better let you go Dave is up and must get around.

tremors

Well a new symptom for Dave. Tremors have come, yesterday he had them bad, we left church due to the fact that his whole body and head where shaking uncontrollably.  It is something that we knew could happen and it has arrived, it seems worse when he doesnt sleep well but it comes and goes.  I am hoping this week that he can do alot of resting.

MLK starts English 108 tommorow all the other classes filled up, but this will be good to have for her to do.  It looks like graduation will be May 7 wow that is coming quick.  Today I am going to accompany Dave to the funeral and then when I get home I will start the girls on school work.  I have been letting MDK get some extra sleep since she has felt so rough but is regaining slowly.  She went to Fairport Awana clubs last night and presented her Guatemela trip for the first time.  She did the powerpoint and everything on her own and aced it.  I was very proud of her.

I am working on a slanted shell stitch afghan it is green and white, crocheting seems to calm my nerve and I so enjoy the end result.  Well better go and get moving we are headed out for the funeral.

early morning thoughts

Well went to bed at 9 last night and slept soundly till 6am.  I dreamed so I am doing better on the sleeping thing.  I dreamed about animals I had one of them was a calico miniature zebra. Okay that was a bizzare dream.  MDK was a wonder yesterday, she cleaned my house for me!!  MLK and I had to go in for college books and errands(picking up my new washer was one of them).  MLK starts English 108, the art class had filled up so she didnt get her first pick.  That is the only drawback is you get what is not full already, but the price is right, half price!!!!  I was able to buy used books so that was helpful, even thought they are still expensive, but they were in good shape.  MDK and I still have some schoolwork left due to the fact that she was so sick for so long.  She still is not up to par back to her normal self yet.  I am very proud of my girls when it comes to their chores they are both able to take care of things around the house very well.  They usually stay up on their chores pretty well.
Today I have an indoor photo shoot for one of Missy fellow seniors hope it goes well. I am trying out a new backdrop I made myself.  We will see how it goes.  Well better get off here.

slow time

This week has been slow and for that I am very very grateful.  I enjoy things not spinning like a top.  Today we finish off school work, possible have to go buy a college book and then clean the house.

I have been sleeping some better and I can tell some difference.  I also started a new crochet project which is a slanted shell stich really pretty it is green and white. Finished sewing up MLK quilt top.  Well better go!

just another day

Well today has been another day, just a common day, today I went to MWSU and registered MLK for a class for the spring semster.  Then I did some errands, came home fought the good math fight with MLK and then MDK and I watched CS Lewis and the Screwtape letter biography.  I finished working on MLK quilt (which is cool looking but so not perfectly lined up).  I looked online for some new patterns for afghans.  Thought about doing my stuff for taxes but that was a no go.  Worked with MDK on spelling and other subjects, reminded MLK that her Science is due Friday night.  Taught MLK how to cook a turkey, then shaved all the meat off the turkey.  We watched a movie about Medivial England.

You know some times ordinary is a wonderful thing, it is good when I have a few ordinary days in a row.  A snowstorm tends to bring it on. Well take care all and I am going to continue my ordinary day.

wow what a snow

I think that we have somewhere between nine and twelve inches of snow out there.  However when you are homeschooled you dont get snow days!  We worked on the house and school work and got alot accomplished.

I went to the doctor on Friday, mostly because on Thursday I drove down 36 in the wrong lanes.  I talked to the doctor about being unable to sleep well.  She determined that I had not been getting to the deep REM sleep I needed and I realized that yeah I hadnt had any dreams for about a month.  She prescribed a pill for me to take and try to get my body back in a good rhythm.  And for the last two night I have actually dreamed and seem to be a little more with it through the days.  My hands have stopped having the occasional tremor.

Dave is going to try to get out and work today, after he does he is going to call me and we will see how it goes MLK has a doctors appt today that if we cancel will take a month before we can see the doctor again.  So I am hoping for the best.  Well better go for now.

scrapping by

I am a tad discouraged right now, it has been a whooper of the last few months.  Missouri is such a wonderful state making all liscencsure due (interpreting) and personal property tax due in December.  It has been slim pickings at my house.  However I need to stay thankful.  We were able to pay all the taxes and get mlk down for her interview and get my liscensure paid for and I got the girls paid for their homeschool classes and made enough between Daves pulpit supply and my class enrollement to buy a washer out right.  Had to put a dryer on credit (ugh!!!)

The biggest worry we have is paying for income taxes, it is just a big pain in our butt!!!  I made a few small quarterly payments but I know that we have to pay alot more between now and April.  I shouldnt complain as we are doing so much better than most people.  We have a roof over our head and warmth and many other things.  Alot of foreclosures over here still and just a lack of jobs.  Well better get to work. More later

a new year

Well heres to a new year!  The first thing in order of a new year, is going down to College of the Ozarks, MLK is looking forward to it but also a little nervous all at the same time.  I hope her interview goes well and that she has a decent backup plan if it doesnt.  Well we are down to the last semster of school for MLK.  Wow that all went so quick.  She has done so well, she is a smart young lady.  Her math is a little below par, mostly becuase she hates it.  She hates math with every inch of her short frame.  However she hasnt yet got to the point where she realizes that the sooner she embraces it the sooner it is over, she has just made more math work for herself.  She is hoping to take art and english 108 this semster, we decided just two classes due to cost.

Been enjoying finishing up crocheting MDK afghan, it is black and white and very striking, going to move onto quilting for a time, but will have another thing to crochet while i watch tele(said with a British accent).  We have enjoyed being able to instant stream Netflix.  I love to be nerdy and watch documentary.  Well better go and clean the house, Mom should be arriving today.

This is a blog to share with family and friends.A recording of our everyday happening, a modern day diary.
