Incidental learning

As I sit here blogging, I am overhearing a Civics lesson going on in my kitchen, MLK is doing the dishes, Dad is doing lunch.  The topic is freedom and giving up rights and basic human nature.  MLK started the subject with some of the stuff from her Dare2Share conference.  Dave took her back to Ben Franklin-'Those that believe they should give up freedom for security, should have neither".  So 10-15 minutes into that, MDK asks what is martial law, then that goes straight into Egypt and the middle East.  Then MLK launches into what is Calvinism, now we are onto Bible Doctrines, talking about John Calvin, and now they are going through Mormonism and Joseph Smith and their doctrines vs our doctrines, and then they launch  into reincarnation.   This is what I enjoy about our life, we are always learning and teaching something at our house.  Oh, now they are all talking about qualities about a future mate. 

MLK went to Neb. for her conference came home absolutely exhausted, MDK, Dave and I went to MDK chess tournament, she did really well with 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 stalemate, our team swept the state in almost every catergory.  It was really good, had alot of fun.  Dave was able to drive us down, which was good because it was a mess as far as the weather. 

Today we are catching up on everything hoping to get the house upright before a new and busy week.

what a nice Monday

Well yesterday was a nice day, no terp jobs, and we cleaned house top to bottom, it smelled so good afterwards.  We finished the greenhouse over the weekend.  We cleaned the dogs, gave one a haircut. We washed bedding and cut out an apron.  We did all our schoolwork and watched TV.  It was good.  I have noticed that if I get too behind on my sleep or too much stuff going on, I have a tendency to have difficulty with speaking correctly or coming up with the right words.  I was noticing that on Saturday, so geared myself down.  Every since a few years when I had that whatever and landed in the hospital. 
Dave's tremors are pretty consistent happening for a few hours at least 4-6 times a week.  I am trying to convince him to talk to his family doctor, we will see if he listens to his wife.
We worked on school yesterday and we are working on sewing an apron for Home Ec.  We got most of it cut out yesterday, very bright and pretty fabric.

Well gotta get going here in a little bit, got enrichment classes today.

a more relaxing day

I had one job canceled today which gives me more time to work with the girls, and get some housework done, dont plan to go to youth group meeting tonight, due to the extreme fog, I just dont do well after dark seeing in that stuff.  I think it has alot to do with my age.  Today we are watching a good bio on CS Lewis (MDK is doing the Screwtape Letters for Lit.), it is very good.  I am catching up on this and that and am hoping to get a small nap in.  I have just been exhausted of late, cant seem to catch up. 

MDK and I picked up a sewing project for her for Home Ec.  it is an apron, going to do one for MJ and Bren hopefully, maybe even one for the grandmas and Denise if we like how they come out.  I am finishing MLK quilt and doing some pillows to go with it.  I have four loads of laundry to fold, just been putting it off, love my new washer and dryer and it is nice that it is all on the same level.

Dave has had a few people ask him do some fill in preaching, so he is going to do some, but wants to not overdo.  He has been having the tremors some and the fatique is a little worse, but he is a trooper and rarely complains.  Debating on going back to the nuerolgist or KU hospital in KC for a for sure diagnosis.

my camera dreams

Well I have been salivating over camera stuff this morning.  I have big plans for myself and my camera after my girls are gone.  I plan to take a class this fall (hopefully) so I can do a little better with apperature and everything.  Just purchased a new background for the homeschool photo shoot and have a preschool photo shoot coming up.  I plan to lay low with most of it untill MDK graduates, then I am hoping to advertise and work my way into a small business of it.  I dont know if it will go gang busters, but would like to give it a try.  I am also going to work on getting my outdoor studio a go across the road.  My business plan is to reinvest all my income in the next two years into equipment, so my wish list goes on and on.  Right now I have a lens hood, posing table, and a macro lens on my short list.  My long list is composed of wide angle lens, a adjustable portrait chair, more backdrops, a arched bridge for across the road, external off camera flash, remote control firing dodad, etc.  It is fun to have this to look forward to, to ward off the empty nest syndrome.
MLK worked hard into the night getting her English 108 stuff done, she had to find all her sources and work her counterargument for her big paper.  I finished up some transcribing work after an all day job yesterday watched two shoes and went to bed at 8:30 and slept hard till 5:30 this morning.  MDK and I are working hard on her last great frontier, writing.  First when we pulled her out, it was reading, she has done so well, scoring college ready on her ACT, then we moved on to writing, but her spelling was horrible, so we backed up and did spelling, now the last great frontier-writing.  I had her quess where her writing was and she said middle school and I agreed so we will use the last 2 1/2 years to bring her up to where she needs to be.  It seems like she always has a standstill that last for so long and then she just gains by leaps and bounds.  MLK is in the countdown to graduation. She thinks she will have everything but her college class done by April 1. 

Well I am working on afghan for Denise and then one for my sister and then I am not sure what I will be doing, finished off MLK quilt except for sewing up the back part, then I need to get it to the quilters and then I want to work on my denim raggy quilt.  So much to do so little time.

MLK and her tax returns

MLK and I had a good math lesson tonight, it is called tax returns, she worked last summer and filled out her 1040 EZ and MO form tonight.  She said do they really have to make it this complicated... and I said would you like to do mine instead.  She promptly said no. 

I have been tired all week and I am not sure why, but I am ready for the weekend.  Got an all day job tommorow and I did need to do some transcribing tonight.  Just cant seem to catch up on my energy of late, been having trouble keeping things down, something is not quite right with my lap band think maybe stomach is inflamed or somthing so not getting a whole lot through my system so that maybe why I am feeling strung out.  Today is the first day in three where things have not come back up.  Trying to eat things I know will be easy on my stomach.  Dont want to have to go to the doctor.

Well I quess I had better get busy again so more later.

i hate truckers

With all this nasty weather, I have decided I hate truckers.  I was traveling home going 40 last night in the snowstorm and the truckers zoom pass me and it is a white out, i almost had to stop, when it cleared one time I was headed towards the ditch, the other time ended up in the other lane.  It was such a fine snow that you couldnt see a thing, it was awful.  I also am not seeing as while at night as I use to.

Yesterday was a full day with classes, and today I interpret alot.  Dave starts his route today, but yesterday he helped clean the house, that was so nice.  Well I best get in the shower and get around.

sleeping i wish

well I am back at it, after trying an over the counter medicine I am still waking up at 4 but I do get good deep sleep till then.  I wake up and by the time I need to get going to my job I am having difficulty with not being washed out.  Ugh, this is so not fun!

Yesterday MDK and Dave had flu like symptoms so MLK and I went to church.  It was really good sermon about obedience and God's discpline.  God doesnt punish His children he discplines them.  He is not out for vengance on His children, but does what He does out of love.  We then picked up stuff at Walmart and came home. 

Tommorow MLK starts a drawing class at the art musuem, she is exicitied about this.  We have enrichment classes and I have an interpreting job that evening.  Well I had better get around.

a touch of the flu

It seems that Dave and MDK may have a touch of the flu, they dont seem to have the stomach, but the other end type.  Dave was up and down alot last night.  So MLK and I will be going to church today by ourselves. 

Yesterday I didnt do much, took MDK to Bible quiz and then I went to see Denise as she was not feeling well, then back to pick up MDK and then home, hung out with the hubby and went to bed.  It was nice to just hang out with him.  He had a three day whirlwind to get his route done, but as always he did. 

I am hoping this afternoon to get the whole family in the get the house in order sweep, I do so better mentally iff Ican start the week with a clean house.  Well I will let you all go, have a good Sunday!

friday

Well today is Friday, it doesnt seem like it with so many days at home.  The blizzard left us with 8-10 inches of snow and some really big drifts.  Yesterday MLK had college, and then we had soup at Panera, we had a great talk.  We went to Aldis and Library after that.  It was nice.

I have been working on photography class and I need to work on my sign language classes after this. Today I have two jobs and then home to work with the kiddos.  MDK keeps lossing everything, it is wierd to see MDK go through the exact same attiudes and habits MLK did.  It can make one crazy.  Well better go for now.

doing nothing and loving it

We are having a bum day, did a little schoolwork but Dave declared it a snow day for the girls.  The yipees went high, as they usually would have gone to enrichment classes it was not a big deal to me.  I finished my book triology.  I have done some laundry, watched alot of TV, stayed in pjs (that is my favorite part).  We are watching it snow and blow,  the coordinator called and asked if I thought I could get out tommrow, I said maybe by tommorow afternoon.  We will have to  see.  It looks like we may not get as much as first predicated, we can hope.

We are going to try to do some photo albums today.  I hope that most people got to stay home, we have blizard warnings here.  The last time this area had one of those I was 12 (in 1982).  It is pretty to watch but not be in I suspect. 

I crocheted on a baby blanket untill I ran out, may start a different project later.  Well all for now.
