a sea of snot

Got a big old head cold with a sea of snot, felt pretty rough yesterday took a Musinex DM and it is much better.  Kevin got the blue car fixed so now we have all our vehicles back safe and sound.  Dave has one more day of Redbox, it is a little nutty right now he has a huge release week and they decided to have to do redeployment, this means no thinning that means machines get over full, which means people cant get their movies returned and then they get grumpy.  He has all his church work done for Sunday. He and MLK will be painting at the church tommorow, the last of the fix it feb. days.  It has been pretty productive because all the closets have been cleaned out,  then they plan to paint a big classroom this weekend.

MDK is super exicitied about the chess tournament and it will be nice to have some one on one time with her.  We plan to stop in Moberly for the worlds best ever onion rings on the way down.  Hope the place has a pool, if not we will just bum in the room.

Well better get around.

broken vehicles and swatting flies

Well Dave went out to do the route today and the brake line was broke, luckily he was able to get stopped, brought the truck back home, got it into the car shop and we have it back.  The blue car blew a spark plug so Kevin is going to take care of that later this week.  Maybe we will have all three cars back on the road soon.  So Dave stayed home and worked on church stuff, I helped him with the Buzz, and the worship service info. He has the sermon, worksheet and is working on the deacons agenda and preliminary calender for April.  MLK has been busy cleaning and getting school work done.  I have been doing school work with the girls and and working on my photo shoot for the homeschool group.  I sent out the email letter and am working on the photo order envelope.  I am having a terrible time with getting the photo sticker lined up on the stupid pages right.  You download the right template and it still screws up.  The bane of my computer existence.  I watched TV last night and did single crochet on a rather large hot pad, it looks more like a small towel, oh well it is my first project for this class.  Hoping to learn how to do tea towel that hang on the stove and granny squares most of all.

Tonight I am hoping to finish the back of the quilts and do a backdrop and get it to drying, we will see if after services I am truely that ambitious, my job canceled for tommorow, so I have alot of time to square away all the small stuff, (swatting flies).  It is nice to clear your mind from all the little stuff.  MDK worked on commas for her ACT skill bank, we both agree we dont care for them at all.  Should it be a comma, or is it a semicolon, or colon.  Ick!  We are working on intro to trig in geometry and tangents, translation and reflection. In English, MLK is working on the island of Dr. Moreu, and MDK is working on Lord of the Rings.  MDK is working on essay writing and MLK is working on writing novels.  MDK is working on weather and earthquake, tetonic plates in Science.  MLK is working on molecular bonds in Chemistry.  MLK is working on reviewing Math Skills for ACT. Both are working on Sign Language, just basic vocab.  In History we are finishing Western Expansion and doing a section on Harry S. Truman (hope to get to the musuem). MLK is working on prep for college and MDK is working on drawing.  For enrichment classes the girls are taking MDK choir, theatre, chess, and knitting. MLK has choir, crochet, and social dance.  MLK is working on building endurance in the pool, and MDK is working on sitting on her butt next to the pool.  MDK has chess tournament (state) this Sat. in Jeff. City.  They are both in Bible quiz, which will end in March.  MDK is going to proably go onto to regionals.  Needless to say we stay busy and enjoy our life.  Right the slob (MDK) is cleaning her room and listening to Disney classics she checked out from the library yesterday.

The wierdiest thing happened this last week, MDK was to clean her room over the weekend, instead I caught her many a time, reading not one but three books over the weekend.  I had to yell at her to put that book down and get busy.  What a blessing to this Moms heart.  Well best get around for prayer meeting.

school work galore

Yes everyone in the county but my girls had the day off yesterday, shh dont tell.  We actually accomplished a whole lot.  We even worked on their ACT skills also.  Today we have enrichment classes and I am hoping to get in a few laps in the pool.  This Friday, MDK and I will be going to a hotel in Jeff City and then the chess tournament that Saturday.  Pray for good weather.  MLK is staying home with Dad, so it will be some one on one time for us.   I finished my letter for the photo shoot and now I am working on the envelopes for the photo shoot. I will also be experimenting on making a backdrop of my own, if it turns out poorly it will be a really pretty painters dropcloth :). I reworked my squares for my next quilt project and will be starting that soon.  I think I have one too many hobbies right now, oh well.
Here are a few pics that I did at Moms. So what do you think, arent they just way too grown up.  We have had somewhat of a freaky friday at our house in the past few months as my neat freak and slob have changed places.  MDK room is a pig sty and MLK is very very neat.  Kinda freaks out a mother.  Just when you thought you fiqured them out.  Well better get to do my photo stuff.

The long winter

I think we all may have a small sense of what Laura Ingalls book the long winter was all about.  It doesnt seem to be snowing too much today.  Luckily none of us need to get out today.  We will spend most of the time doing school and cleaning house.  I might get to my painting project this week, I will wait and see.  I also am working on my photgraphy business letter and such.

Yesterday we had church only 30 came and we had a business meeting and L.  acted like a butt again.  Dave was really  worked up about it.  When he gets really worked up it exterbates his MS symptoms.  By 2 in the afternoon, both his feet were numb and his left leg was doing its dropsy thing.  It concerns me, and we had a talk, I think I talked mostly.  I am not sure how much longer Dave will be able to physically handle stuff like that.

Well better go for now.

the case of the missing block

Had an awesome time at my Mom's.  We were very busy bees there.  We all three worked on  a quilt top.  Mom made a blue one and it was really pretty. She still has yet to find the missing block but we had some extra fabric and made a block and it matched in very well.  I got material for the back of it today.  The girls worked a little on some ACT prep but mostly we all hung out.  I took pics of the girls, MLK by herself, and the biggest challange was Luka!!  Wow, he is a busy boy.  I will post some of those later.  Today we will be doing some Math, cleaning at the church and just some odds and ends.  I also started a strip quilt got the three strips sewn together then I will be cutting them out after I iron them.  Well better go.
More later!

a busy day

Yesterday was a very busy day, we had a full load of classes.  Knitting and crochet class started yesterday.  I am in both classes, both of my girls are each in one of the classes.  MDK got the role of Millie in her acting class, it was one of the lead roles and she was so exicitied.  They are learning a piece from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.  Her class acts out one scene from each play that they choose together as a class. She nailed her cold read(not bad for a girl that has dyslexia).  Talking about her dyslexia, it doesnt seem to give her as many fits anymore, she has learned to work around or through it.  It still reeks havoc on her spelling, with word reversals in her writings but all in all she does very very well.

MLK has been getting a slew of college letters, she got a 22 on her last ACT and since then her mail is almost as much as mine.  This is a good boost for her.  Hoping she does even better on her next score.  This would help with scholarship money!!!  I really feel that the MLK needs to think about getting a job and her liscence, but Dave has different thoughts about it.  So I just let it go,  he is the head of the household and I need to make sure to be a good example on this.  I still bring it up once in awhile.  She is hesitant to take a lifeguard job, but she wont say why, maybe the thought of that responsiblity is not something she feels she can handle.  I will tell you jobs for any teens are in short supply in our area.  They are taken by adults that have been laid off and such.

I have many irons in the fire with all the different hobbies I have been pursuing.  However I have enjoyed it.  This last year I have finally got to do some of the things I want to do.  My kids are old enough to share the work around the house and can take care of many of their own personal needs.  We are not currently in any family crisises so that is good.  It has been nice to do something I want to do.  Here are some of the pics from the banquet Sunday night.  well all for now.  Got get around and head to MOMS!

valentines day

Well, it was a full one, and it was a good one.  We had an excellent service, good attiude, 100 people, and then we had a blood drive after church, (we do one a year), then we had Awana (not many kids due to the bus not running and snow), and then we had the Valentines banquet.  It was awesome, the youth served it and we brought in 250 dollars, it was so cool!!!!!!!!!!   I took pics and will post a few later.

Dave is going in for his procedure this morning.  I am a tad worried, I will be home after that all day.  I hope to work on pics and take pictures.

Well better get around more later

two tylenol pms later

Well I finally slept, I have been able to sleep well without a sleeping aid of late.  Dave made me take some he says you cant keep going on this little bit of sleep.  He finished up his sermon last night and fell asleep in the reclainer by accident.  I am very exicitied about the prospects of getting this photography business off the ground.  I started it and then put it on hold till after my weight loss surgery.  My logic was I dont need to be doing both things at the same time.  So what I did was wait untill the way I eat and the changes from surgery became more natural and routine for me.  Now I really feel like I can devote myself to this again.  Oh here are a few more pics of MDK. The backdrop needs to be ironed but you have to remember I was just playing around with these.  So I will iron these before I do a photo session with MLK.

I am thinking that I will still do the disc but will give people the option to get prints from me also.  I will give them the disc so they can do their own prints.  I will do $75 for indoor or outdoor, and $150 for both.  This will give them all proofs on their own disc.  They can print their own or I can give them a $100 session, no disc and order prints from me.  Just some thought rolling around in my head.  I am very exicitied about getting this going.  I hope my house doesnt suffer too much from it.

Well looking into watermarks to but into my photos that I have printed.  Well more later.

look who came for a visit

Well as you can see we have a visitor, flat madi arrived at our house yesterday afternoon.  She was last seen with a French young lady.  As you can also see I got out my photo equipment and started working with it.  It will take some getting used to and I must take an iron to the backgrounds but got some really good shots of MDK.  Plan to practice some more later.

Today we went and got all the material for MLK dress and took Ruth out to lunch, also picked up supplies for my first big photo job will be taking pics for our homeschool group.  Hope to clear enough to pay for my equipment in full.  Experimenting right now with a basic head shot for the "school portrait and where to place the lights, chair, etc.  I am enjoying it alot.  Dave is home but tired. Tommorow we have a work day for the church.  Well better go.

many irons in the fire

Well I am in full speed right now, I have had four jobs this week which is more than what was planned on Monday, had some emergency ones come up and took them.  Tommorow we are going to go to Joanns and get the fabric for MLK prom dress, the date has been set for April 30.  We are sewing one as her bosom just never fits right in the dresses, everything else will fit but she is just too blessed.  I have been swimming more.  I have been quilting, I have been reading, I have been doing alot of little things.

I need to clean out the van today and get the oil changed so that I can take Ruth tommorow and we can get the fabric bought and I also am working on my indoor lighting and am exicitied about that also.  It is good to have a busy and full life.  I am enjoying not having a job 4 day at 7 hours, money is good but it is hard to get the girls schooling done also.  We have been doing alot this week, esp. Math (double lessons), due to the fact we are going to Mom's for a three day quilt fest.  We will only be taking our ACT lesson books to do up there.

Well off to get my swimming done.  More later.

back on the web

Well we fixed our internet problem so lucky we wont have to call the tech to come fix it.  Yesterday was a busy day, did alot of errands and then went to enrichment classes.  I got home and got my indoor equipment, but will wait till Friday to play with it as I dont have the time to enjoy it till then.  Dave doesnt have to meet with his boss boss today, and can start his route right off so he is joyful about that, as we was afraid he may not be able to start till late in the day or tommorow.  It makes things go smoother for him.  The girls were tired and went to bed early, Dave and I watched Pysch and then crawled into bed.  I slept soundly till 5 and then was able to actually fall back asleep and sleep till 630.

IWhen I get my equipment up and going I will take pics of the girls and post them.  Well more later, got to get MDK and do math before my two jobs today.  Got MLK math for today done last night.

what do you do at 4 in the morning?

Well I am up again, so what do I do at 4 in the morning, I keep quiet is what I do the most.  I work on the computer alot.  Of late it has been tax stuff.  This morning, I have got up and registered both girls for their ACT Test in April.  I also work on cleaning up files, printing out invoices and doing taxes.  What fun you say, well when I get bored with that I roam the internet and read blogs, so that is sometimes interesting.

Last night we watched Ameila, it is a new movie out by Fox about Ameila Earhart, the musuem is a stones throw from where we are in St. Joe, so before the end of the school year I plan to go and see it.  It was a pretty decent movie.  The area I live in down here is so full of historical stuff, we watched a Jesse James biography and found out the first bank he robbed was in Gallatin, thirty minutes from our house.  The pony express is also here.  So much historical stuff.  I didnt like history in high school but love it now.

Today we do taxes, I have a job and hope to get to swim that is if the weather allows it.  It was a beautiful snowfall yesterday but dont really need it.  I have purchased indoor equipment for photo shoots so that will be coming soon.  You all be ready to be my guiena pigs!

Well must get back to taxes and such.

Sunday

We had great services today, with a baby dedication and a nice crowd.  Dave had to fix a machine so we ran down to Cameron real quick grabbed some lunch came home and took a nap.

Yesterday the girls had their Bible quiz and did well, Dave got to come and see them so that was nice.  We had a nice evening too and so all in all a good weekend.

Bob and Mary should be coming home from the funeral of his Mom today so praying that they are going to do well in all the snow.

Well more later

sleep of the dead

I slept and took a nap this afternoon and I slept harder than I had any night this week.  It was gooey sleep.  Hard to beat that.  Yesterday MLK and I went for a swim and then I had a doctor appt.  MDK slept mostly for the last three days, very little school work with all the hacking she was doing, the cough seems to be alot better, I quess if you sleep and take meds mostly that will happen.

I am officially at the 60 lb mark loss.  I lost an average of 1.2 lbs a week for the last five weeks.  I was nervous because I had not had the greatest month.  However it is well within the acceptable range.  They want 1-2 lbs a week.  They really dont want you to lose more than 2lbs a week.   I am upping my exercise level and hope to do well with it.  Hope maybe to swim tommorow before Bible quiz.  We are finishing everything up for the week, and gearing for the weekend.  Tonight should be quiet and we are all going to bum out.

Well better go

i slept thru the night on my own

sounds like a posting for a baby, but I finally slept all the way thru that is truely the best kinda of sleep there is.  Yesterday was a full day with swimming, enrichment classes, and errands.  Bob's mom passed away yesterday and they will be going up to Michigan for the funeral.  Our church family has been great for that, they are giving them some extra money to get up there on.  Getting our taxes done or at least started on next week.  I am hoping that we are going to do okay, it always kinda feels like a scalping.

Today I got a last minute interpreting job, so I will proably swim a few laps and then go to my job and then take MDK to the doctor.  Gave her some left over prescriptation cough syrup so she could quit hacking up her lung.  Well more later.

the last day

Well I interpreted for the last time at King City, and so now I am done with that assignment, I have nothing else so far this week.   I came home to a pretty clean house and things done around here.  Both girls are fighting off some sort of infection, with sore throats and aches.  If they are not better I will proably take them to the doctor tommorow.  They dont seem to be running a fever.  We sat around and were bums last night, watching TV.  It was nice to all be together.  Dave starts his route today, I am hoping to get my hair done today and get some swimming in also.  We have enrichment classes this afternoon.  I also need to do a math lesson with both girls today.

I got all three quilts ready to go to the guilter today.  I am so exicitied that i got them all done and it will be nice to see them done.   Plan to start on my strip quilt soon.  I am also ordering lights to do indoor pics so hopefully that will go well also.  Well bettter be getting around.

awake again

Well never blog that you are sleeping better as it will jinx you.  However after staying home last night I am in a much better frame of mind.  Wow, it is amazing what a few hours of alone time does for my outlook.  I was able to finish up the back of all three quilts, MDK said she would iron them for  me, in exchange for forgiven a debt for a lost planner.  I also cleaned my room, and read.  I was human again when everyone got home.

Today is my last day interpreting if the girl is healthy, then I have about fifty two small projects I want to get done.  However Tuesday is enrichment day and plan to swim and get hair done.  Yesterday night was pj awana night, so we bought both girls and Dad some new pjs.  I got a t shirt, it is a hoot.  It has a cow and a milk jug on it, and it says Milk I am your father!  and the milk jug says NOOOO!  It is a play off Star Wars, really corny so of course I love it.

Dave is such a wonderful man, and so very loving.  Yesterday when I was a bear and a half he just hugged on me all afternoon, I said arent you afraid I will bite, and he said no I know you need some extra loving when you are this grumpy.  He actually had a one hour calm deacon meeting.  That was awesome, sometimes they can be a burger.  Well off for now, maybe I will try that novel idea, sleeping.

This is a blog to share with family and friends.A recording of our everyday happening, a modern day diary.
