taking MLK to the doctor

Well I thought we were on the mend but MLK was having trouble catching her breath yesterday so will need to take her to the doctor and make sure we dont have broncitis. It feels like this whole last month has been dedicated to being sick!

The girls were not diligent doing there stuff yesterday but want company over this weekend, I am trying to make them understand that those two things are related. We will see how that goes over today. I am not holding my breath. Kids can have very little understanding of such complicated cause and effect. :)

I am down in the office trying to get things cleaned up and laundry done, there is a certain level of disorder that reigns if I take my eye of the ball. Umm wonder if that changes when the kids get out on their own.

grand finale

Yesterday was practice and the Grand Finale, we went in for brunch and a time to chat and then we went to the Dollar Store, Kmart and then off to practice. After practice we went to the library and did our schoolwork, (d0ing Math surronded by books was torture for MLK). MDK was very sucessful using the card catalog and finding a book on bread machine recipies. Anyway got our work done, put it in the car and roamed the library for about a hour, when it was time to go we found out MDK had locked the keys in the car. So had to wait for Dad to come across town (he was servicing St. Joe) and was almost late for the Grand Finale. It was a nutty time. The choir did two songs that were extremely tricky with the timing. They were amazing. Also MDK performance of a skit from Little Woman was awesome!! I was so proud of both of my girls. We then helped Dad with his route and came home late. I am dragging a tad bit.

Dave has been awake most of the week with Predisone running through his system, today is his late day on it, so when it washes out of his system maybe he can sleep again. Well better go and get around.

it is looking festive around here

Dave's movies for Redbox didnt come in last night , so it shall be very interesting week for him, coming off of vacation from church, however he got alot of church stuff done, got the dryer fixed, and then he orchestrated getting the Christmas decorations up. It was a nice time even though we didnt have orange julius. I pooped out at the very end around ten, because I had woke up at 430 that morning.

The girls had a productive day yesterday getting chores mostly done, and almost all school work completed. It is nice to have my dryer back again, I can have towels!!! Yeah!! Our furnace got fixed yesterday also, so no more kersone smell. I went downstairs and I have some serious work to do down there. However this week I will proably focus on helping Dave get his route done. Today is the Grand Finale practice and performance and that is behind us. MDK plays Marmee in a short performance of Little Women. MLK has a solo in part of a choir song.

Starting the wind down at work, finished the last sign language class. I really only have 17 more days before I am done. So I am starting to wind down some, people think it is a ways off but when you are part time it is not really that far.

Talked to Mom who is having a difficult time with a school district yesterday, I get quite appalled that a adminstator at a school thinks he knows what is best for one particular child, it truely amazes me. I am also amazed at how different school district will totally ignore state and federal law. I think sometime people get in power and it all goes to their head.

getting organized

Slowly oh so slowly I am getting organized. I was such a mess last Feb. that I had family come in and help me, I was off my foot with an ankle injury, Dave was so sick and we were both overwhelmed, both sets of parents came down and helped us out. Now at the end of the year I am fully recovered (I think) from this ankle problem, for the first time in almost a year I was able to take the steps one at a time, I finally have enough strength and stability in that ankle to do that. Dave is so much better with his new meds that it is night and day. I am getting ready to come home and whip everything in to shape. I have been organizing a little every week. Last week I went through winter clothes and MDK outgrown clothes, got rid of two huges bags of clothes and shoes and stuff. Yesterday I cleaned out the junk drawer, and the hall closet where we hang our coats. Was able to put the Bissel in there it was so clean. Next two projects are top of the fridge and the old desk.

Still fighting the ear infection, makes me dizzy and sick to my stomach some. It still hurts some. The rest of my cold is just a nusiance. Dave has been on predizone now for two days and is having trouble sleeping and is eating everything not nailed down. I made veggie soup yesterday morning, and took care of all the sickies (MLK has it too, just not as bad). Then last night taught MLK how to make mashed potato and MDK I taught her how to make bread in the bread machine and she has become a chef now in that area. Two loafs yesterday, and wants to do more. I will see what we can do, may try to do sourdough.
Went to bed at 8 exhausted this crude really takes it out of you, woke up at 430 so I am up and playing on the internet plan to make a grocery list and pick up the ads on the way to work. Do some grocery shopping on lunch hour maybe.

MLK just finished listening the the life of Fredrick Douglas and is starting Little Men by Alcott before Christmas. MDK is working on Horse and his Boy in her series of books. MDK is reading alot of bio this year. School is doing okay, we are getting through, hoping to shine up the corners on that soon. The balancing act right now is tricky but soon that will be done. Grande Finale is this Tuesday and that will be behind us. Looking forward to days where we will clean, organize, school and cook. Well better get off here and make my grocery list.

we is all sick except for MDK

Well the creeping crude got the better of us and we came home, now we are playing secret agent man from all the church. All except MDK came down with this. Dave started to have a fever yesterday so we came home. He is taking some predizone he had that he didnt take at an earilier time this summer, trying to keep it out of his lungs. We came home to 55 degrees the furnace is dying or has died called the heater guy, and got out the kersone heater we bought two years ago, man can it heat up the place. Pulled the mattress out into the living room and bedded down to watch movies. Dave was up late as predizone has a tendency to keep him really wired. He is sleeping soundly so I will keep him in bed as long as possible. The house is a wreck so will try to get that done today. Hid the van in the garage to make people think we are still gone.

My ear is still giving me fits, and everynow and again it seems to drain and throw my equalibrim off, that is an odd sensation. We had a good long talk about obedience on the way home and how it is a matter of the heart. We talked about how being obedient to parents starts a good relationship with being obedient to God. We try as parents to make things real and have them understand the why of what we do also.

We as a family are starting a website as a family project, I will let you all know when it gets a little closer to beiing finished.

slept like a baby

Still here at Mom, slept like a baby last night, woke up at 63o. I think it helps to be able to breathe!
I am awfully afraid that MLK is coming down with something as she looked pale, I was hoping they would be spared.
Been piddling around on the computer, reading articles, and blogs. Going to Viv's today. Working on laundry.

Thanksgiving or the beggining of the Holidays

We started up at 10 t0day to get Mom for Thanksgiving, we were still feeling a little worn from the cold and with the nasty ice and snow that was happening decided to stay at home and go in the morning. So we brought our laundry because the element in our dryer is going bad. So we piled everything in and got the dog and got on the road. We had a nice ride over, and talked the whole way it was good.

When we got here we eat and then the cousins big and young went downstairs and outside and played, told stories and had fun. We all just hung out and it was really nice. Also did Christmas crafts. I misspole saying the stars should be wispy and ended up saying whiskey. Oh well.

Just under a month at work, starting to transitiion to home.

give me the drugs

Went to the doc yesterday and she did not fool around with whatever crude I have, she said my ear looked awful which I know it did, it hurt like crazy. They gave me a shot of steriods, a decongestant, a cough syrup, and pain med drops for my ear and a antiboditic. They gave me extra on the syrup and antiboditic for Dave (shh!). He got his route done in two days, and plans to sleep most of today, since this is officially his vacation. I have to go in today, due to missing so much last week. Still feeling rather rough but so much better than Monday.

Justin the kid that lived with us for a short time, just got sworn in to the national Air Guard, should give him college money, good training and a possiblity to work there full time. He will go into basic training come Jan.

The girls have school work and house work to get done today. We were at enrichment classes yesterday, next week is performance and then done. I told the people at enrichment classes that we will staying home next semster and they were all real nice about it. I am going to have MDK do sewing with Ruth in our church weekly and MLK will find somebody to do crochet with. Going to try find a few things and mentor here close to home to supplement with.

Church is going okay for now, it is been such a hit and miss thing with a funeral and then vacation week, but once we get back it will be Christmas season. Got to get started on Christmas decoratians and all. Cant wait! Actually have them bought.

being sick

Well went to work not feeling well at all made it to 3 pm then took off, was feeling so rotten!! Came home, didnt get anything done, had a raging fever, even with Tylenol, the girls watched movies, I would see about 10 minutes of each and then I would be out till the end. Get up go to the bathroom and then out again. Around 11 I think I started to break my fever, I dont feel hot this morning. I have a doctors appt, due to my ear still hurting and I am really wheezy dont need any secondary infections.

Another person at work got the can while I was gone, my good friend the other pastors wife. She was upset with the new boss when I left and had about had it. While I quess they got into it and that was it. The guy who had been put on adminstrative leave now came back and that same day had a mini stroke, not good. Everyone keeps telling me that I am making a good move. I just talked to the MPACT lady and she wants to keep me as an advisor and mentor, so that will be some sporaditic work for me. All the deaf people are wondering what they will be doing with my job and I just have to tell them I dont know, not my job to find a replacement.

My house is a little rough around the edges since I have been on the sideline with this stupid illness. Hope to wipe it into shape before we take out for our break. It will be nice to be away. My dryer is acting funny it is taking forever to get things dried.

today I buried my Grandma

Today was my Grandma's burial, it was hard and good all at the same time. She was such a beatuiful woman, such a great mother and grandmother. We laid her to rest at Seymour. We have all been blessed by her life.

It was good to catch up with the cousins, gave Mary and Jessica a hard time, as I told them they had to dress alike for Grandma and they did. I kidded around with them telling them that Grandma was up there telling Jesus that this is the twins Jessica and Mary.

We will miss her!

at Moms

I arrived yesterday late afternoon at Moms and plan to be here through Friday or Saturday, actually I will proably stay at Vivs tonight to free up some space in the bedrooms for others that will be coming in.

The family is doing well, we know where Grandma is, it just gets hard knowing that we have to go on without her.

MLK had a fit yesterday, came down on her hard, she has became very self centered, I need to refocus her, she has to learn to see outside of herself, she like all good teenagers goes through a very narastic phase. These next few weeks may be bumpy.

Brought some but not all school work with us, so we dont get so far behind. I got most of the clothes done before we left, have alot of bedding to do when I get home.

Get all the grandkids picture taken today. Hope that turns out well.

Winfred Hancox

My grandma died today, it was a beautiful thing in the eyes of God. God got to bring a faithfilled faithful servant home to be with himself. She also got to see Grandpa today, it must have been a blessed thing for her to see her Jesus and her sweetheart all at once. She laid down to take a nap and woke up in heaven, what a special thing.

We will all miss her, she was such a example, had such a rough childhood, but did so great and had a family and they all grew up to love the Lord. She was ninety five when she died, what a long and wonderous life.

I will be back home with the folks this week helping out and then attending the funeral.

the last Deaf Club

Last night was the last Deaf Club I will be in charge of, yeah!!! It went off without a hitch. One of the nasty older deaf ladies however has started a rumor that I was fired from MERIL. She is and always has been a rumormonger!! I will confront her nicely this week about it.

Got alot of school work done yesterday, MLK is feeling better but is tired from the ick. Girls will be going to Mom's for a short time this week. Our plumbing got fixed yesterday so now we all wont die from methane gas. MDK made cookies yesterday, messed up the recipe but they turned out good anyway. Dave was feeling rough yesterday, think he might be getting the crude next.

Just two more enrichment classes and that is done. Then we will have Tuesday here at home. Still reading Little Woman it is such a good book. Put in alot of grades yesterday, MDK is a tad behind in hours but MLK is spot on. MDK has been reading alot for fun lately, that warms my heart. What a long journey to get to this point. She has however been enjoying it too!!!

Yesterday MLK was sick, had the twitchy and hot sweats, but then she got alot better by late last night. Ugh the run of ickys seems to keep going. Dave has the girls picking up the garage and taking care of stuff. We will be doing school work on a Saturday due to the fact that we just keep having the creeping crude around here. First one then the other. I thought we were all well. MLK sickness hit here out of the blue and then left but she is very drained.

Little woman we have been reading aloud, it is just a wonderful book. I now remember why I loved it so much as a kid. The girls get so tickled about Jo. MLK reminds of JO and MDK reminds me of Amy. I know I am not Marmee, but it is nice to slip into that world and get lost for a few minutes. I dont know what book we will read aloud next.

Work has become a regular nut house, one person conspired agaisnt another. So and so getting the ax, people upset and crying in their office. It is just so bizzare. Installing camera (can you say Big Brother), wow it is so bizzare. Well better get off, the crew is getting ready to take care of our plumbing.

and the drama is thick

wow what a work day yesterday. Another person put on adminstrative leave something that happened three years ago. That person told the CEO meet me at my lawyers office. And also the person who had my job formally is going to try to make a deaf dept be the head and coordinate with Kim. She wanted my thoughts I told her a two headed monster will not work. Someone has to be in charge. She is also trying to side step Marilyn due to the fact that she left the files in such a mess. Just alot of high strung stuff going on.

The girls are doing better since I was home for five days in a row, that was nice. We got alot of stuff done. However MDK has to get her room clean, it is the mother of all messes right now. We are back on board with school, however until I get home it wont be up to snuff like I like it. It is however much better since no one is ill!!!

I am looking forward to having work done this week, it such a soap opera. I got to get my clothes out so we dont all freeze, and change over to the winter wardrobe. Well better get off!

sorting thru the piles

I have been sorting thru the piles, our entertainment center looked like it had pucked. I woke up at 5 so I got up and started sorting. I have gotten a big CD DVD case for all the stuff so I got all the cases trashed old yuck and sorted out 2 grocery sacks that I will donate to the library. I then cleaned out the four drawers by the kitchen sink, also the long drawer.

MLK had L. up for her birthday, and they worked on her room, pretty much got it done. She has to get white to touch up mess on the ceiling and a scrubber for paint on woodwork, a little touch up under where the tape was. She used a aquamarine blue color, then silver accent for stencils and then butterfly stencil and glitter spray, it will look good when it is all done hopefully on Monday.

MDK has helped her sister out alot with the whole project, she is finally mostly back on par this week with her health, she finally sounds well.

We will start back on subjects Sunday afternoon and Monday. I took the day off on Monday to take MLK to the eye doctor, MDK will be doing some sewing with the two church ladies. They are making Christmas stained glass banners that will look like the other banners but with Christmas scences. Alot of work, sewing and ironing, matching and cutting. Ruth will be teaching her quilting and sewing after Christmas once a week. It will be so good for MDK. Anyway trying to get everything accomplished during this time of transition will be very interesting. However it will all work out in the end.

Kaster engineering- my husband and his good friend Steve try to fix our methane problem, they accomplished this with a clothes hanger, a rubber band and lots of duck tape. It was a real Tonk Kaster moment (that man was the greatest coobler that was ever known to man. I need to take a picture of the washer hose duck tape, rubber band "trap" that they rigged. I laughed when I saw it.

without a vision

Had my exit/ nice to meet you meeting with new CEO. He asked for my advice, and I gave it to him. I said that he has not effectively communicated his vision to us and therefore he will start hemoragging good and faithful, smart, and skilled people. He seems like he is okay with that and wasnt sure how to take how I just put all the cards on the table. Also some interesting tidbits of what is going to happen after I am gone is coming to the surface from other sources. Should be interesting, but so glad I am not sticking around, mostly because I couldnt work under or more closer to Kim.

We took the week off from school we have been doing it for 10 weeks, so I plan to do 10 weeks on 1 week off and so forth this year. We will see how it all goes, now mind you they are still putting in hours but not in the core subject but in electives. MDK is with a group of church ladies doing sewing and banner making all day, MLK is redesigning her room and is doing all the labor herself, from color combos to primer to stenciling and such. So they are not getting math and english this week but alot of good other training.

Everything from this last week on till I get home full time will be a little wierd and off. Dave is putting in full time hours I am working my way out of here and transition is the name of the game. We are all trying to make the most of it and be flexible. The girls are being great about it most of the time. I would say I am the one who does the most stressing. Well better get back on the clock. Break is done.
