First full day of school

Well today was the day the first offical day!  We started school about 8:30 today.  MDK classes are as follows: Home Ec., Typing, Biology, Algebra 2, Bible 2, LA 2, Spelling, ASL, and enrichment, chess and theatre.  MLK has Human Anatomy, Consumer Math, ACT Prep, art and writing senior portfolios, English 104 college course.  MLK has just a few things to finish up this year.  She plans to do English 108 and Art next semster at MWSU. 

I did one short job today and now I am home need to check over some assignments.  MLK made chili so supper is done.  Looking forward to a quiet evening here at home.

middle of the night

My body is in a bad habit, about 2 in the morning I wake up and that is the end of sleeping for about two hours.  I think it is hormonal as it does this in cycles. 

Today we went and dropped off MDK for a birthday party at the mall and while we were there we found prom dresses, one for twenty five and the other for 7 (it needs a new zipper) both were absolutely beautiful.  I love shopping off season it gives you awesome buys, both dresses were orginally about 150 dollars.  So very cool!  I have a friend that will do the repairs to the zipper.  One is white with silver and the other is turquiose blue, the white on for MDK and the blue for MLK. 

We started some school this week and MLK has just a little more to finish Math, she actually started Math some this summer and said I will have the first workbook done this week and I am holding her to that.  So she did ALOT of Math yesterday and will finish the rest today.  She says her brain hurts, I say you decided to proscinate too bad for you!  She will learn!  Math is about the only thing she puts off anymore.

MLK starts classes this Tuesday.  Dave is starting to catch what I had.  MDK is at the birthday party.  We got her passport stuff started.  Well better get off here.

a good vacation

Had a wonderful vacation, we were both a little puny but it was really good to just chill and talk.  It was so quiet, nice peaceful and six days by ourselves was heavenly even though we missed our babies.  Dave played a computer game, I sewed and crocheted and read five books.  We both slept alot, we took pictures, we took very short walks (due to being ill).  We slept in till 11 one time and woke up on other day at 9 only because the crows and squirrels were having a fight on the cabin roof.  It is a really beautiful park and not many around since it was late in the season.

Today we got some stuff taken care of and just catching up on stuff.  I started a denim quilt it will look so cool when I get it done.  Close to finishing all the lessons plans for school.  Well better get off here going to chill and then go to bed.

sick

I have been really sick for the last few days.  It is allergies with a sinus infection.  The doc gave me a double shot of steriods and I am awake and feeling better, even though it is 3 in the morning.  I slept off and on for two days straight and when I was up I just sat around watching moview and playing online.

We got our Wii setup for instant download thru Netflix.  Really really cool!  Our DSL internet is really neat.  We can watch movies on our TV thru the internet, wow I went thru and marked a whole bunch for our instant queue.  It will be a nice feature and will keep us from buying movies as much.  However when school starts the Disc will disappear that allows the girls to download instant movies when I am not home. 

I am behind the eight ball with my lesson plans, hope to do that on vacation when Dave is asleep.  Being sick didnt help that at all.  I tried to do them but I have no brain when I am this sick.  Canceled two terp jobs also plan to go today since I feel better. 

MDK had a friend over Tuesday night, and MLK is going to help her friend and family paint tonight in their new home.  She also talked to her friend Sharon yesterday, hoping they got some stuff set up in the future. She goes to the same college MLK will be taking her one class and I hope she will get her involved with some stuff there.  Vball went belly up as they scheduled  the games on enrichment classes days and I am teaching classes then, and it conflicts with Chess class so MDK choose chess.  MLK wasnt too particular either way as she is an okay player but she can take it or leave it.  MLK can use the pool at the university so I hope she will take advantage of it.  MLK and MDK need to drive with their dad but MLK is going to look for another job as soon as she gets her drivers liscence and after she starts her college class.  MDK will have a big load of classes this year but MLK will not have as much as she justs needs a few more classes to graduate.  I am hoping that next semster she will be able to do Art and english 108 for the spring semster at college, maybe more but at ninety dollars a credit hour, we will see how Mom's checkbook does. MLK is also working on her college admission to College of the Ozarks but will not be able to do anything till Sept.  when they will issue her a "g" number so she can fill out more applications online.

I am hoping to do some sewing crocheting walking photography and just hanging out with my hubby on vacation.  I have alot to do today and Dave does too because this is the biggest release week of the summer.  Oh well we will get there when we get there.

starting a new school year

Well I am getting in gear to start a new school year.  It is amazing that MLK is on her last year.  We started this journey when she was in sixth grade.  Wow she sure has changed.  Also the change is MDK is remarkable, she was the main reason we choose this path.  She know loves to read and can do so profientally, if I have done nothing else that in itself has made all this worth it. 

We will start a few subjects soon and then we will go full force after Sept. 1.  I am exicited about the new school year.

I have a terrible cold and I am debating on rather or not I should cancel my job for today, as I feel like my head is stuck in a cloud somewhere and I am absolutely full of snot.  I am debating with myself.

the epic battle

Louie is such a funny dog.  We currently have an epic battle going on at our house .  On one side we have a beagle on the other a squirel.  Every morning, Louie goes to the door to go outside to pee and almost every morning the squirrel is there awaiting him.  Louie pees and then he "trees" the squirrel then ensues the beagle howl and the squirrel scolding.  The tree is has low V in it so then the dog gets up in the tree and howls and the squirrel comes part way down the branch and scolds and so it goes on and on.  Our dog has a rash from the sap or something from this tree all over his belly but does he give up. No way!  One day the squirrel will be on the ground and that will be the end of him. 

I havent posted a whole lot lately been on Facebook and learning how to use it.  Well better get around for church.

summer is winding down and limitations

Summer is soon to be a thing of the past, things are finishing and winding down here at the Kaster household.  One last break and back to the school grind.  MDK last days of babysitting and then home.

MDK is getting her Guatemla letter out and I hope she will do okay and raise the funds, it is totally in the Lord's hands, and I am willing for her to go.  Either way the money she raises will go there. 

MLK is glad to be home and her and Dad are going to go get her ID card at Missouri Western today and hopefully do some driving practice.  She is working on her ACT prep and some Math to get ahead of the curve. She is also doing alot of sketching, she has taken another leap forward in her art, she has a tendency to grow and the stall out and then leap forward.  I quess practice makes perfect, she is forever finding new ways to stretch herself with her art, for the longest time she didnt but now she does.

Dave well he is starting to have to live with his limitations,  his legs are his big thing.  He has to baby them along.  He is finding that he has to be off them alot more than he used to be.  If he overdoes he has more nerve pain and less feeling.  He is learning to be productive sitting down, he is writing.  He is such a good writer, I think he could publish something if he ever put his mind to it.

Well I got a full weeks worth of work and proably better get started on it.

finally sleep

Sleep has been a rare thing for me of late, last night I took two tylenol pm and I was gone, slept clear till a little before 6 in the morning.  I hate long weeks where I wake up and I am up for the rest of the night.  It really sucks!

MDK is home now and MLK will be home this evening.  This mother hen will be glad to have her chicks home.  I think this North Dakota trip was a good experience for MLK to grow and hopefully a spirtual awakening. 

Well I have bills to pay, yuck!

a nice long weekend and a week alone

Well MLK is in North Dakota, seems to be doing good, must be staying busy because she doesnt talk very long.  It is my prayer that her and God will have some good one on one time.  I accidently woke her up, I needed her password to pay her college bill and it was only 10 pretty early for that girl.

MDK is in Iowa babysitting, she is thinking about going to Guatamela on a mission trip.  She will have to raise 1600.  Our pastor, Dave's good friend, will be going and will watch out for her.  We will wait and see she is going to pray about it.

Dave and I are alone this week, wonder how we will do it is really quiet around here.  We will enjoy and miss them all at the same time I suspect.

MLK to North Dakota

MLK arrived safely in North Dakota, it was a twelve hour trip which she said she got most of her book done.  I am hoping that she learns and grows there and this will give her sometime away with the Heavenly Father.  She is getting too big too fast!

We were bums yesterday, what a nice change of pace.
