living in the moment

Last night Dave and I had a date night, it was so nice it was one of those rare moments when you live in the moment.  Here I was dating this wonderful man that I have known for so long that still makes my heart beat faster and takes my breath away at times.  It was just me and him and no worries, and no kids and nothing just the moment.  It was a special time, I dont know I quess all the stars just aligned correctly. 

Dave has a big week this week at work and then he has alot of extra duty stuff going on, he is meeting with a couple he married that is having issues and is also singing at a funeral this week.  He filled in a pulpit on Sunday.  He sometimes wonders if he made a wrong choice but then God gives him a week like this to help him remember that he couldnt keep up with this full time.

MLK was in a bad mood this morning, she had a rough time on a test yesterday and she then will go negative.  I told her if she goes negative it will affect all of her classes.  She is truely bipolar, she is either sunny or dark and rainy there is no middle ground with her. 

MDK is being swamped with work.  It is a little much for her now but it should get better.  Well better get around for now.

dreading work

Let me clarify I am glad I am back to work and have a job, it is just that I am dreading the awkard position that interpreters can get in at school.  Our code of ethics makes us be a extreme nuetral party when it come to behavior, we are there for communication period.  It is frustrating for the teacher when the student acts up and it is their job to take care of the behavior.  I hate being the middle man,  but I follow a strict adherence, unless harm will come to someone I do not step in.  I cant risk my livehood with anyone going after my liscense and such.  I just hope this little student is better today. 

Went and helped Mom and Dad pack and got some flowers, then to Clarinda and back, Dave preached there, that is alot of driving between the two.  Then a nap and then we got the lawn mostly mowed and planted the flowers, now I must get around.

making it through to the other side

God was good to provide for us to see us through my broken wrist and the slow up of work, since like Dec 15, my jobs pretty much slowed down to a complete halt.  Then I broke my wrist so three months after a whole slow summer has wrecked havoc on the savings account.  God provided means for us and I was able to purchase new clothes also.  Some of my good work tops are over seven years old and were looking worn.  So I was able to purchase some nice tops and stuff for Sorenson which I def. needed.  So we are getting to the other side.  Work has picked up and will be starting in April at Sorenson.  Just a few more weeks.  The gas prices are killing us, it is absolutely stupid that they are this high.  It is a way for our government to force the hand of everyone to do as they see fit.  It will be good to see a new group in as I think that it will make the gas prices go down.  I have a job today and have had two other jobs this week.  MDK is exhausted because the had three other workers quit so she is picking up slack again, she likes the paycheck.  She has the day off tommorow and plans to try to catch up on her sleep.  The girls are looking forward to seeing the Hunger games.  Actually so am I.  Well better get off her and get ready for work.

got things planted

I got alot of things planted over the weekend, glad that is done and Dave repaired our wall on my flower bed.  I also checked on all my plants across the way and they are doing well!!  Got the straw off the strawberries and they look healthy.  Looking forward to planting.  Yesterday I cleaned the house and then I did nothing all day long.  It is my last day doing that for a while as I am going to be gearing back up here.  I am starting to get a steady stream of jobs again.  In two weeks I will start Sorenson so that will be good, a little nervous about that but it will all work out.  Really more nervous about the drive than anything.  MLK gets her first paycheck today, and they both get their midterm grades this week.  I have a job south of St. Joe this morning and then enrichment classes this afternoon.  So better get around and on the road.

sat in the sun

At homeschool classes yesterday, while I was there for MDK, the ladies and i went outside and just sat in the sun, it was glorious.  I dont have alot of daily connection with other people due to the nature of my work, and since we moved from Fairport, I am just now getting some new friendship started.  I am also feeling like I am getting to a stage of life where I can develop some deeper friendships.  I have some friendships, just not as developed as they should be or could be.  However these other homeschool moms have been a great thing for me over the years.  I am hoping to continue a good friendship with a few of them after MDK graduates.  That is the one thing about being self employed that makes things harder.  So anyway we sat in the sun talking the afternoon away and it was so glorious.  I am hoping the sun comes out again today.  Today I go to the doctor and get my final okay to go back to work.  Looking so forward to that.  Well better get MDK up and get the day started.

projects and chess tourney

Well this weekend was mostly taken up by chess tournament on Saturday, we got up at and left by 5 and got home by 11.  MDK won two and lost two, and her team got nineth place so it went well.  I had a good talk with fellow moms and did a little stiching on a baby quilt.  Dave painted the mud room and it is a really pale yellow and put new curtins in there.  It looks so neat and clean, then he and MDK cleaned out the closets in their bathroom and restored stuff, it looked great.  MLK was working on Math and I was trying to help her fiqure it out.  We also put new handles on our cabinets as the other ones were looking wayyyy outdated and some of them were broke.  It is a slight change but it makes it look a little more modern.  Now we are done inside so outside we must go, projects outside, are taking down some trees across the way, gardening stuff, putting sand under the uneven slabs on the porch, re painting the patio furniture and a few other things.  Well that is all for now.

didnt get much done

Well I have decided that I must limit the amount of peanuts and or popcorn I eat to only on rare occasion.  They tore me up and that is all I got done yesterday was feeling miserable until it all passed.  I hate unproductive days on the whole, I always feel like I need to be doing something.  I have been doing a whole lot of crafting and projects and such. 

Good news I was resting my hand outside of the brace and I was wondering how it was doing so I moved it all around in fifty different ways and no pain!  Yeah that is such a good feeling, it pretty much feels back to normal. I go back this Wed. and hopefully get the all clear. 

Well better get around and start my day.

just wanting to be lazy but yet...

I just got home from finishing up the last of the errands around town that needed to get done.  I have finished off the fafsa and all the stuff for MLK college stuff (for now), got some remaining clothes for myself (mostly tops, I needed to update)  and got gardening stuff to start in the greenhouse.  I have dishes and laundry and general pickup but I just dont want to do them, I would perfer sewing today.  However I am usually the type that does what is necessary and then does what I would like to do second.  I think however I might take another nap.  Dave got done pretty early and is on his way home from sorting movies and such.  I am thinking we might both lay down to take a nap.  MDK overhead me saying that as she left for her 8 hour shift at McDonalds.  She called me a bum, can you believe it.  The shower went very well this weekend and the trip over and back from Clarinda did well.  Dave preached there yesterday, it was nice to take a trip down memory lane as we went by the hospital where MDK was born, and then through Hopkins on the way home.  We first arrived there in that area twenty years ago, that just kinda took us back when we were talking about it.  Well better get off her and do some dishes.

day of the shower

Today we have Denise's shower , we stayed up and did all sorts of work on the cake and the like.  Viv called me yesterday morning with the flu so I am unsure if she will be getting here or not.  I wrapped our gifts and got everything ready, need to finish some icing this morning as it needed to stiffen last night.  The frosting is really really good it is white chocolate and the inside is rasberry filling, and we made chocolate cupcakes.  I crocheted an afghan and some newborn hats, and made some burp rags. This week I plan to do some more crafting hopefully.  I have one more blanket I need to finish up and I am making some stuff for the baby basket our Sunday School class is putting together.  It is gonna be fun.
Yesterday, Dave took me shopping as we looked over what I had to wear as far as professional clothes.  I have been updating my pants for quite a while, but all my tops (esp. interpreter clothes, look old and faded out).  So I went shopping for tops and wow did we ever hit the jackpot.  We did really well also getting him a few things.  I got a whole bunch of tops at Kmart for like 4.50, nice ones that were orginally like 32 dollars.  I also found some stuff at Cato, Swieser, and Gordmans. We also got some nice pjs for everyone.  They are so comfy for around the house. 

The brace is making me crazy and I am not sleeping with it on as I am so uncomfortable with it on.  A little over a week and we will be getting this thing off I think.  Well better get around-big day.

got our tax return

Yeah we got our tax return on the same day I found out I am in this brace thing for two more weeks.  So I am once again limited on what I can do.  It can be frustrating at times I dont know how else to put that.  I am trying really hard to stay postive though.  I have gotten alot of projects done around the house so that is good.  My closet the catch all is clean so that is good.  We have the baby shower this weekend.  That will be nice and fun, so today is get the house clean day.  It isnt bad at all just need a few touches here and there. 

Dreaming of garden stuff and hoping that this weekend or next week I can get started in the greenhouse but with this crazy brace I am going to need a volunteer to help get everything in shape out there.  It will be nice to have all of it done.  Well better get start thinking about what I need to do today.
