good movie

Dave is super sick, took him in today, and got a third shot in the butt.  Two shots of antiboditc and one of steriods,  he seems a little better tonight.  He was diagnoised with bronchial pnuemonia and didnt seem to get better and much worse so I had him go in again today before everything closes up for the weekend.

I am having a lazy day,  just piddling mostly. Going to stay home with Dave.  We watched a really good movie called Gifted Hands The story of Ben Carson.  It was an awesome movie, very awe inspiring.  I read a magazine and stared at my dirty curtins.  I know get off my butt and get them done right.  Well not today.  I did clean out alot of drawers and the computer desk is organized, plan to do the tax stuff for my work tonight also if I can set up the excel program correctly. 

The girls have a lock in tonight, MLK has worked hard today to get school work done so she can go see Grandma next week.  She is going to be painting with David , viv's hubby.

I just stopped to get a drink and couldnt find a glass, oh so not good for MDK, she has been hiding a stash of dishes and not cleaning out the sink and I am now doing them for her since she is at church.  I just hate it when I have to constantly harp to get a job done correctly, in the midst of that I scorched the noodles Dave had on the stove.  It is the lick and promise jobs that drive me over the edge. 

Well better get off her and finish the dishes.

keeping it quiet

Dave is sick, and he is sleeping in the recliner right now so I am keeping things really quiet in the house.  Both dogs are asleep and the girls are asleep, yet I am awake.  I will proably play on the computer and read till he wakes up.  I got a predizone packet and antibodtic that we had and been giving it to him.  Have him on echineza and Musinex also.  Trying really hard to keep it out of his lungs.  He finally got St. Joe done yesterday.   I went to bed early and I think he finished his funeral sermon and went to sleep. 

Today will be a bunch of getting little things done hope to finish the back to Viv's quilt and maybe cut out the next one.  Need to do tax prep stuff too.  Well better get off her for now.

hot flashes and anxious

Well I am at Dave's folks house, and I had one of those super dee duper hot flashes, hadn't had one of those in a long time, the kind that melt sheets.  I also woke up feeling anxious.  So I am up blogging.

Enjoyed Christmas so far, a little worried about the trip home with all the ice and snow on the ground.

Checked my email and the whole homeschool enrichment group is in a big uproar about the medical forms.  Basically parents who signed a waiver that they will stay on the premises have dropped off kids and left and then we had a kid pass out and it was a kid with an upcoming open heart surgery, no Mom, it was not good.  So we are asking for medical forms well alot of them are in a big uproar.  I just dont like to see people fight about stupid things.  I seem to be more senstative about that as I age.

Hope to quilt some today.  Well better go will try to sleep some more since it is 4:30 in the morning.

almost Christmas

We came to Mom and Dad early due to a possible ice storm.  We have gotten Dorothy my aunt this morning, picked up a few things.  I got a sewing machine for myself (a good simple one on sale), I am currently sewing up a quilt for Viv right now.  Taking a break and possible a nap before I finish sewing it.  I also brought stuff to be able to cut out the other two quilts.  One will be red and black and white, that one I am keeping, another one for Gma Henderson blues and tans. 

As I sit here Mom is napping and Dorothy is coloring, the others are playing some kind of card game, things are really relaxed, glad we are all on break and getting some extra sleep and rest and relaxation.

just thinking

Well I woke up early again, I quess that is what happens when you go to bed before 10.  Yesterday both Dave and I woke up at five in the morning.   He decided to go get his movies for this week and do some clean up on his route.  So we went in and cleaned stuff up, stopped at IHOP, I got a half order of blueberry pancakes and then only eat half of that, the girls finished it off later.  I am doing soft foods, I ate chili last night, it went down well, it is going to be my source of protien, beans and meat that stay down!  Still struggling with meat but will try again after Monday when I move to complete solid foods.  Every time after a fill I have three days liquid and three days soft.  I have another fill on the 29th.  Then it is Feb before I have another one. 

Today we all wear our Christmas outfits the girls look way way too grown up in the outfits!!!!  I have a size smaller clothes, yeah!  One more day of interpreting and then I am done till Jan. 

I have been thinking alot about what I have done with my life here at the midpoint and trying to decide what new things I want in the next twenty years to do.  I dont know why I have been so complentative but I have.  Well better get off for now.

the three s- swimming,skating, shopping

Well we got the PE hours in yesterday, we all swam laps, and then we went to the Christmas ice skating party.  We shopped for Christmas dresses afterwards I will take pics and post them on Sunday.  They look really good in them, I also got a skirt, jacket combo, it was on sale at Lane Bryant, got some new tops as the other ones are getting really baggy on me. 

Watched a history film on Alexander Hamilton, that wraps up the Rev. War unit and now for a short stop at the War of 1812 and then onto westward expansion and industrial rev.   Finishing off the rest of the schoolwork before Christmas, I work today and monday and then not again till Jan 5.

I folded four loads of laundry the girls got the house in order and we had a rather good day yesterday, a little more housework, a little more schoolwork and then we are off for Christmas break.

personal goals

Listening to Dave Ramsey yesterday and he talked alot about personal goals.  So I thought I would try to put some of them down here.

First and foremost Health goals-  okay by my birthday I want to lose another 50 lbs that would put the grand total of weight loss at 100. Also want to swim a half mile by my birthday in one session and a mile by next Dec.  Also want to find another exercise I love as much as swimming.

Spiritual goals-  my Bible reading has been a little spotty of late, this next year I want to make sure I read everyday, also memorize some of the psalms that I love to read

Intellectual goals -  I want to read two classics this year and I want to survive Chemistry and Geometry with the girls

Work goals- plan to take my Certification test again this summer and hope to get my level 4

Fun goals- finish three quilts, cross stitch all my frogs, read more lesiure books

House goals- repaint all ceilings, remove carpet do floors, paint stairwell, get repairs done around the house.

Well there are all my goals we will see how it goes.  What are your goals for this coming year

53 and 12

Well went to the doctor lost four more pounds, averaging 2 lbs a week.  So a grand total since Feb. is 53.  Before I went to the doctor I swam some laps at the pool finally did 12.   I had done 10 for a while but now I am up to 12. 

Worked on schoolwork and did the doctors appt, that was the extent of yesterday, I work today, off tommorow, work Friday and Monday and then off for the holidays. 

Very amazed at what people will say to defend Obama, was talking to a guy in the waiting room ,who thinks he is wonderful,  I just dont get it. 

Well Better Go get ready.

She passed!

MLK passed her lifeguard classes!  She plans to go back to the next class and work some more on her backboard in line stablization since that gave her alot of fits.  She did great with everything else, acing all her written exams.  I plan to have her practice alot at the YMCA just to build her confidence.

MDK and Dave went caroling and did the AWANA christmas store while we were gone.  We didnt get home till 11:30.  It was late and MDK was asleep.

I started ironing my pieces for my two new quilts hopefully I can cut them out tonight.  Still reading the Elm Creek books, they are so good.  I will proably get to read alot due to the fact this week will be alot of testing.  I work Monday, Wed, and Friday this week, have a doctor appt Tuesday and a homeschool Christmas skating party on Thursday.   This week is the last week of buying movies for Dave before the New Year.  I am glad for him, hope the week of Christmas is smooth sailing and that it will be easy for him we will be home Christmas till the following Monday.  He is taking that Sunday off from the church.

The Christmas party for all the foster kids of the county was a huge sucess!!!!   We had a good attendance and lots of fun.  MLK had to do her lifeguard class but the rest of us were there to do the doing.   Here are some pics.

elm creek quilts

I am really enjoying a good book series called the elm creek quilts, a very lighthearted novel.  I have so enjoyed it though.  I have been trying to read more and watch less TV.  Even without cable or the arieral we proably watch too much TV.  Oh well, alot of it is educational. 

This week I have found so many things I have been hunting for, found four library things I was hunting for.  Found alot of other odds and ends I was needing to find also.

Getting ready to start sewing on some quilts and maybe take some photos if it warms up a tad, hate to go out with the camera when it is too cold because it is hard on it.

The house needs a quick pickup, have to take MLK to her lifequard class this morning and then church activity and then the afternoon is hopefully mine.

Tommorow is the last class for MLK and then she will be certified, how cool for her, now for that drivers liscence.

She seems to have matured a little bit in the last month or so, seems to be getting her act together, however when I post this it sometimes jinxes it.  Well better get around, more later.

back to the grind

MLK and I went in to town last night, she had a makeup session to do for lifeguard.  Sat and Sunday and then she will be done!  Yeah!  I am back to the grind but only for a day.   It was a nice break with so much accomplished.

I am enjoying this stage of life, I am kinda getting back to doing some of the things I enjoy.  I am quilting, reading, photographing.  I was reading my sisters blog and remembering the chaos of that stage of life. 

Well better get around and back to work.

home again

Well I am home again, hard on the wallet but easy on the eyes.  Dave stayed home and we did home projects Yeah!!!  The basement is clean the kitchen is organized, my room is organized.  The school work is caught up.  My hard drive external is found and getting my homeschool tracker updated.  I lost alot of records in the two crashed computers. 

I did  transcripts and class descriptions yesterday.  They look good, it makes me realized how much work I have done over the years.  I also finished both portfolios for last year, had it all in a pile but not put together for the longest time so that is done.  Got the two folders ready for this year. Read some in my book.  Today MLK has lifeguard classes and Sat then two or three more and we are done. 

It has been a nice break to have things slow down some.  Well I better get the girls around and get started on our day.

I finally got on

Sorry it has been a while since I posted but the website has been acting up.   The storm has arrived and therefore I have been stuck at home. YAHOO!!!!  I got MLK high school transcript up to date and also got her course description sheets for all three years filled out.  I will be doing MDK.  I got my invoices cataloged, got MDK portofolio for last year complied.  It was  in a heap now both girls portfolios are looking good.  We got alot of school work completed.  House work done.  Today I hope we can make bread and I can get some more projects completed.  No work today as school was canceled. 

Thought I would post some pics from this year's activities.  I will make some more postings of pics later on a seperate posting.

I am trying to get ahead of the curve on the portofolios for next year and get my ducks in a row.  We have the countdown till Christmas break we will work till the 21st and they will have the last few days of that week to mop up unfinished business.

Doing the course description and transcripts were somewhat rewarding seeing all the hard work and organization is paying off.  I would have to say it looks pretty darn impressive if I do say so myself.

wow

what a week this has been, rush and rush and rush some more.  That is all we have done of late.  However MLK is doing so well in her lifeguard classes and seems to really enjoy them, she has an all day one on Saturday. 

Dave left his phone in Hiawathia yesterday so while MLK was at her lesson I drove all the way out there and got it, also did the Christmas shopping so it is pretty much done.  Just a few things left. 

I am so draggin my butt to work this morning all this running make a mom TIRED.

she started her lifeguard lessons

The next two weeks will be a little nutty, with the lifguard lessons.   MDK and I are going to the library while we wait and work on school and then we swim at the end of her lessons.  She seemed alot more cofident then last week.  She says however that because she is short when she has the big old red thing under her arms she can only do certain strokes.  

MDK and I had a meeting of the minds last night so that was good.  The kid I am working for is starting to have what I call the Christmas jitters.  Oh well, must get around for a full day.
